Saskatchewan

I think the fellow up the road that had I believe 400 ft deep told m they went down a good 700 ft but it did not get any better.
I think the pipe was 6 inch, I helped change the electric pump one time with a front end loader, next time it jammed in the hole and had to drill a new hole. Not a cheap operation. He had a few watering bowls for the cows, horses , gardens and in the house also with softeners, and filters
Cost way more them my 3 ton truck and water tank ( used)
Summertime I used the Tandem and 2 tanks 3000 gallons good for a month or so.

I have a low pressure "city water" system that supplies our house. The property was also fed from a well but the well was on 40 acres that was separated from ours before we bought. Wasn't suitable for house use but fine for irrigation and watering troughs.

The house supply is enough for the house but nothing else.

I have multiple tanks for the livestock and haul water. Outdoor tanks on gravity for summer and 1000 gal in one of the shops for winter. I'm trying to budget for a well but all my neighbors are 300+ ft deep so I need to keep saving. Hauling water sucks but the supply well is a short drive and I have what I need to do it.

I got big drifts across my driveway last week, wife and kids had a snow day while I was away. We are 10 km from the nearest pavement, so sometimes have to accept that it ain't happenin today.

Wouldn't change a thing, cept maybe a bigger tractor than what I've currently got. My taxes are about 1/3 what they were in the city, and I can shoot out to about 1000 m in my underwear if I want.

Don’t move to northern SK. It’s a horrible place. Cold, miserable, boring, just all around inhospitable.
To each their own! I'd personally hate living in the south with all the wind and lack of forest.

An area to look at is the melfort, tisdale, nipiwan triangle. Area has the hunting and fishing.
Great hunting and fishing in the area! However, the crime in the area (especially Nipawin) has dramatically increased since 2020. We moved away in 2020, and while we miss our friends, I don't think we could move back now.

While crime may trend in certain places, pretty hard to predict. Especially when you jack a vehicle.

Boushie, Sanderson.....just to name a couple recent things. The latter was pretty close to me as he traveled around, not really a deterrent to rural living (ar least for me).

If I was farming in SA, maybe I'd think about it differently.

I had a range out the back of the shop, but there should be law against shooting in your underwear, unless you are girl. ( but not mine)
I had a fishing hole in walking distance, but I never seem to get around to it, shooting, and building stuff more my speed.
The north would have wind as well, but all those damn trees are in the way.

I remember going to the Hy Tor hall for chuck wagon meetings. Man that was over 40 years ago now.
I grew up 3 miles from the hall. Spent a pile of time there at all the suppers, dances, and events.
The old hall is now torn down, only two years ago I think.
And there is a big new house just about done being built there.
