Depends on what you're hunting for, yer style of hunting and the distances ye shoot at.Looking at getting a lever action, what larger caliber do most reccomend? Was looking at 44 magnum but willing to hear opinions about other calibers!

Me old favorite was 35 Rem in a Marlin. Now its 45 Colt in a Rossi 92. Things change over time for most folks I reckon. The one that gives me a bit of fizz is a BLR in .358 Winchester. That sounds like something I could get behind (and shoot lots of bears with). Slap an Accupoint on top and get some.
Chickens too as a Marlin 1895 will shoot 2.5" .410 shells. You have to single feed them.45-70 will do it all from deer to moose to big bears.
