Robbie, no disagreement from my side with anything you said. my point was more about what was people's experience with DNT warranty.
I am considering to get another DNT scope and sell one of my vortex ones... but I am hesitant because I know that with Vortex, I'll get it fixed even 5-10 years from now if something happens... and with DNT, I have no idea. DNT is a great scope for sure
Hi Eugene - my post was in NO way directed your way - I just wanted to say this for a while now - so decided to just add it in.
For background - the 2 Chinese guys that started it all, set up Arken Global in 2017 (8 years ago now) and started building the Arken scopes a while after that, and they got the Americans to set up Arken Optics USA. They started selling their scopes through Arken USA in 2019. The 2 original owners of Arken Global still own the parent company - and they still build in their factory, the Arken scopes. Early 2024, they decided to launch their own separate brand called DNT and pulled the digital products out of the Arken brand, and re-branded them DNT. So essentially DNT is the factory’s own brand - and they actually enhanced the DNT product to stand out ABOVE the Arken brand - hence I keep telling people that the DNT 7-35x56 scope is a better scope all around than the equivalent Arken EP5 Gen II 7-35x56 with enhanced features - different lens coatings, better and more modern reticle, fully illuminated reticle, nicer machined turret and parallax caps, windage “zero indicator” at a more easily readable angle, built in throw lever and nicer laser engraving of all turrets and parallax.
And DNT are heavily investing in digital products - night vision and thermal and a LOT of new day optics coming.
Will they be around in 10 years? I think so, given they’ve been around for 8 years now and growing like crazy - and taking massive massive massive market share from the likes of Vortex, Athlon, Leupold, Burris and Bushnell to name just a few.
They are upsetting the “apple cart” in the optics industry, and will continue doing so. What they have managed over the past 6 years, was to revolutionize the industry with great products, at a great price (without spiking prices like crazy when they become successful like almost ALL optics brands have done)….
And to put the “cherry on top” - they actually OWN AND PRODUCE their own optics - Vortex, Athlon and many others don’t own a single factory and produce NOTHING in-house. Everything they sell is bought from an OEM in China, Philippines or Japan. And their QC is initially done by the OEM factory that builds optics for 50 other brands….
So I’d say DNT aren’t going anywhere… and then again - there’s no guarantee Vortex and Athlon and the likes will still be here in 10, 20 or 30 years time… their no questions asked warranty might still cause their eventual demise, as prices will just continue skyrocketing until people stop buying their product… OR, they will eventually change the warranty - just like Costco changed their return policy on TV’s, electronics and many other products. Eventually it comes to bite you in the ass - because there will always be unscrupulous people taking the piss out of the warranty.
Anyway, glad you like your DNT - they’re hard to impossible to beat at their price point.
Ciao
Robbie
