I was interested in the BCL MRX Bison Recon. I was wondering if anybody with one would recommend it or would a Ruger American Ranch be a better option?

I had a Ruger ranch and a bison MRX 12. Inch. The Ruger ranch was a bit more accurate. I kept the MRX because it was a bit shorter.

I have the one with the 12.5 inch barrel in 223/556. I went to the range with it and brought my Ruger Ranch along. Both me and my wife agreed that we will keep the BCL and sell the Ruger. So much more fun and accuracy was the same. Mine had problems with the extractor but BCL send me a new bolt within a week.

I’ve seen a lot of people remark that the completely squared off chassis bottom is a bit hard to hold. I’m considering the Bison too, but comfort is always a factor. Anyone have a solution to this (besides tape and padding)?

Only just got mine and only one trip out and 50rnds so far.

I like it so far. Fun little gun. And I found the forend design just fine for shooting off hand. The action is nice and trigger is Great. .223 has no kick to speak of but this some how has less and feels like shooting one of my 22lr rifles.

Noise wise she’s definitely a loud one but really no louder than the SKS I purchased this to replace.

Accuracy is still to be determined but I have high hopes from preliminary results. I don’t expect it will be on par with the .223 savage I have but hoping for better than I can achieve with the SKS.

I don’t expect it really like the folding stick allowing it to pack down in a small case.

Still waiting on an mlok bipod and a better scope mounting system. Also have one of the BCL mags on order but really liking the 10 rnd pistol mags I have.

So far really happy with the purchase. IMG_5963.jpegIMG_5965.jpeg

Mine (Bronco) had some damage in transit, nothing visual on the rifle, but the carton was damaged, there was some problems with how the bolt functioned, currently being fixed. I did shoot it, no complaints about accuracy.

PMC 168gr Match, 5 shots, 100m.

I've owned a BCL Scout. Typical BCL quality, cludgy feeling bolt. Mediocre accuracy. Why they installed a truck axle barrel and made the thing 10+lbs loaded is beyond me. For the 1/2 the price you can have a Ruger Gen1 that is more accurate, lighter and handier. If you hurry, you can still score a pre-tarrif Ruger Gen 2 for slightly less.

I don’t own a BCL bolt gun. 2 Rugers, 3 REM 700s and 1 Bergara. I own NEA and BCL products. Have enjoyed them. Thought to buy their bolt gun but after much homework realized it’s not worth the long term investment. Yes they take 700 triggers but nothing else. Range Toy/Disposable truck gun is where I’ve categorized this firearm.
I currently have a 7.62x39 Ruger in an MDT LSS XL chassis which is the equivalent to the BCL chassis with less weight (no full length top rail).
It cost me more than a BCL bolt gun to put together.
it really depends on what your after. If you want the BCL for what it is and have no desire to customize it later on than your probably best off with that product. If you change with the times and want a new stock or chassis down the road than the ruger is the horse to bet on. BCL could close its doors in 2 years and you’ll be SOL with no parts or service. Aftermarket Ruger parts are plentiful and Ruger itself has been doing nothing but the most in the past 10years. I wish Remington didn’t drop the ball but here we are. To say that couldn’t happen to BCL is… well…..

Got mine out again today for another 40rounds. with the better scope mount and Bipod. Shooting PMc green tip I was lucky to get 2-3” groupings it’s cheap and good enuff for plinking and about on par with the best I could accomplish with my SKS.

Switched to PPU Match 69g and the pictures was about the norm. Any where from just under an inch to inch and three quarters. All at 100meters

Overall can’t really complain. This rifle was purchased to replace my SKS. I opted for .223 over 7.62x39, as I have another rifle in .223 and it’s just easier to store fewer calibers, additionally the 5.56/.223 version offers use of the proprietary 20rnd magazines. I wanted a sort of modular, short relatively light weight (this is lighter than my other centerfires l) rifle I can punch paper at 25yard and 100meters. Something I can comfortably shoot unsupported standing. And something I can throw on irons and try that as well. Additionally I just think it looks cool and handles similarly (just way way way lighter) to my Savage precision 30-06.

This rifles ticks all the boxes in my books. It will be the rifle I bring along with my 10/22TD on my crown land camping/off roading trips for plinking bottles and various food targets ect. It will be the rifle I bring as the step up from 22lr when I bring new people out to the range.

Jesus...worried that BCL's might go under.

#### me, have some of you been living in a cave in the wilderness in the last 5 years?

If Remington can go tits up, ANYONE can...take a pill, buy what strikes your fancy, go shoot it.

Boy, is THIS ever food for thought. I would love to support a Canadian manufacturer, and I still hope to. But this is why I’ll likely buy a more legacy brand first.

Do you have any idea how long it takes and how much it costs to get a small part for your Ruger from Gravel Agency? Compare that to BCL.
