Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

What ever substance people might be partaking in, the real question is how they behave after. I know people that are chronic consumers of weed that would pass any sobriety test other then a blood or saliva test. Some people function normally and others even at a high level, excuse the pun.

Same goes for booze.

The real issue this conversation exposes is people's lack of experience with situations beyond their norm and how quick people will make assumptions and pass judgment without enough real world data and experience. Or they tried weed and it turned them into a giggling goofball only capable of high level chips consumption and mostly idiotic conversation. It's not for everyone.

I see this behaviour paralleled with Canadian voters. Half the voters can not be bothered to take a few hours to watch the debate and maybe listen to one rally from each of the contestants..... these people are only informed by their preconceived notions and which are often reinforced by their peers and unfortunately MSM.

I think many people would not be shocked to learn that some of their favourite musicians will burn one before the show and again in between sets and perform once again excuse the pun at a "high level" It's not necessary but for those that do it's not a problem.

I think what would surprise people are the extreme athletes who are skiing big lines in Alaska that are close to vertical with no fall zones everywhere and are burning one in the chopper... or the skater who is doing a backside tailslide on a steep 24 step handrail "in the zone" self medicated.

Most pro extreme athletes these days are clean but I'm sure there are still a few burners out there. To be clear these people have the chops and skills already, weed won't make you a better performer if you can't perform to begin with.

I do love the irony of the guy's whining about second hand smoke from one guy having a joint outside, while they have zero issue with sitting around a camp fire breathing in all that heavy smoke unfiltered for hours, every single day that they are there.
A guy smoking a joint produces vastly less smoke than any camp fire does and it burns for maybe 10 minutes vs a fire that burns all night long, for days at a time. It's also easy enough not to stand right beside the guy smoking it, if you're that worried about it, you are after all OUTSIDE in the forest.

Some truly stupid people around these days... Maybe next time, they will reference Reefer Madness and try to use it as a case study!

I know a hunter who was almost killed by a drunk guy out hunting a few years back. He took THREE separate shots right at him and his buddy, each flew right past their heads. He was hammered drunk, could barely stand up and was taking pot shots into the treeline directly at them. Even when they yelled, he ignored them and kept firing.

They eventually managed to flank his position, confront him and remove his rifle and then call the RCMP/C.O. and he had empty beer cans all around his camp.

I think do what you please, if you can behave properly and handle yourself like a responsible adult. If your baseline state is 2/3 to a retard, you'll be an even bigger liability intoxicated, regardless of what the substance is.

So how's the camp going? I don't use pot cause it seems to paralyze me but alcohol makes me strong. A camp full of pot heads sounds melow lol

Assume you are 100 on pot to the average person at 50. If you shoot someone because they stepped into your shot, or even if you get shot, if you are high, good luck to you.

Also, seriously, you are a master hunter on weed? Does it attract animals to your stand? I would have thought it might be disqualifying for something like bow hunting. It sure would be if you were hunting me. Though maybe not. I'm the guy wondering if they are burning garbage at the dump...

I'm pretty sure most of the Battles between the Danes and Swedes back in the day were due to winter boredom, good ice conditions, and alcohol fuelled bravado..... :)

Buddy of mine was bow hunting and sitting in a tree. Lit a giggle twig and bout half way thru heard a deer approaching with its head in the air just sniffing away like crazy. Said he couldn't shoot that fella after having a smoke with him.. 😶‍🌫️

You have heard of edibles and THC drinks have you not? Lots of ways to get a buzz on without any smell:)

Being an alcoholic, I'm not a huge fan of weed, but I have to say that one of my old hunting buddies was hands down the best wing-shooter I have ever known. Only when he was high though, without a good buzz going he would rush his shots and miss.

I would rather hunt with stoned people than drunks, I do not smoke, but drink beer and Irish whiskey.

It's better that people express themselves freely so others can realize that there are more then a few different takes on things... Track is not the only one with prejudice for people that think and behave differently then he does. It's actually quite common and at some level most people engage in it... who knows maybe Track was traumatized from an event that involved weed or knows someone that was?

There have been cases of people that were preconditioned towards schizophrenia that were tipped over the edge by high potency weed.
I'd like to see some links to those claims please. I've heard this before but have never come across any conclusive medical proof that cannabis was at fault.
I consume cannabis and I voted conservative, have voted that way my entire life and so do all my friends who consume.... and hunt.... not necessarily at the same time.... but they are all staunch conservative voters..... except for maybe one.
To convince yourself that it was pot smokers who are responsible for Trudeau getting elected is such a fantasy land concept but if you have zero clue about cannabis or the culture in Canada ..... I guess I could see how some minds might come to that far fetched conclusion.
Carney getting elected is proof in the pudding..... Canadians are just stupid as f*ck ..... they don't even need the weed to be that way apparently.
Growing up in high school, weed wasn't really a thing in my circles. There was some around but it just wasn't on our radar. As I became an adult and was able to consume alcohol legally, I quickly found out it wasn't for me due to severe migraines it would cause and I just needed to a few sips for those to come on. Tried the hashish a few times in my 20's and that was nice, nothing crazy. In 97 when i had my life changing work place injury and the discovery of a birth defect in my spine..... coupled with severe hemophilliac type allergic reactions to a host of pharmaceuticals all the way down to aspirin..... the specialist and gp agreed I should try the pot.
In 1998 a year after my accident , they told me I would most likely be in a wheelchair by the time I was 50. I'm 56 and still walking, still hunting and fishing when I'm able. Nothing but Cannabis for medicine the entire time. No pain killers, nothing... just the weed. I did end up having an episode a few years ago... 4 years ago now? where my issues flared up big time and I found myself on the floor in extremely severe pain and no feeling in my legs at all. Was a scary event and I spent 48hrs in the hospital and then saw a slough of medical professionals afterwards including the top neurosurgeon in the country. They put me on muslce relaxers and nerve blockers and told me I needed to take that crap every day for the rest of my life. Well.... that lasted about a year and due to not liking the side affects.... I weeaned myself off of the gabapentin and cyclobenzaprene after discussions with a pain management specialist the neurosurgeon refered me to. It was agreed that cannabis helps a lot of people with similar issues to mind. So I have been back to only medicating with cannabis and maintaining my quality of life.

say what you want but weed is not the great evil that some folks seem to have convinced themselves it is.
Have another beer if it makes you feel better eh?

What if the topic of magazine vs clip, comes up?

I imagine the alkies would side on the magazine, and the potheads would go for clip.

Don't y'all see, all Hell would break loose!

Leave both at home. Only broken friendships could result, or worse!
