Russian SKS45 long thread.

First things first,
Damn this thread is long, I tried to read it all but my A.D.D. kicked in. I personally am strongly leaning toward keeping my order with Frontier. I called and talked to the owner a few times (heck of a nice guy) and order 2 (one presentation one shooter). Both to my door for $524. The only reason why, is due to the fact I just got off the phone with SIR and the older lady who answered (also extremely nice) told me the price may stay a $165.99 or it may go up. She was not sure. She did however also say the price could possibly go down. I just don't like not knowing the in's and out's of a deal before i agree to it.

SIR doesn't charge your credit card until you confirm that you still want their product when it arrives. I ordered a Rem 870 earlier and it was out of stock, and when it did arrive, I had already bought one elsewhere, so I told them to cancel, and that was the end of it.

By pre-ordering an SKS, you give yourself the option of getting the rifle at a real good price. If the price goes up extravagantly then you have the choice of canceling the order when they ask you if you want the rifle. And if the price is lowered, well aren't you glad that you were already in line?

Has anyone received any feedback or comment from Marlin wrt to the disparity in pricing? Do we know if he's aware of it? (SIR vs Frontier)?

/gc

yes, he is aware .

members have to realize that dealers like frontier and SIR are dealing with a middle man so they only knows what the middle man tells them.

red tape

just got a email from frontier changing ETA of the russian SKS.

The Russian SKS Rifle shipment has been delayed once again. The importing company tells me that we should expect them late April to early May. Exporting red tape has led to this delay. We are hoping to have the rifles packed and shipped within 5 days once they arrive. For those interested or have not already done so, we are offering the 7.62x39 Czech ammo (1120 rounds, corrosive FMJ, on stripper clips) $10% off and free shipping if purchased and delivered with your SKS (limited quantities). This offer is valid only in areas the DHL currier services. Arrangements can also be made to pick up at you local DHL terminal if you live in rural areas. For those wishing to cancel or modify your orders, please contact us by email of phone to do so.

Stay tuned to the SKS page of our web-site for more details. Email's like this will be sent out once more details of the shipment are available.

SIR administers the floating pricing on all their merchandise inventory. They still excercise the same even after the Cabella's take over. I live in Winnipeg and find SIR, a very undesirable place to shop. I avoid going to their store unless absolutely necessary.

No problem here . Have one on order from both .Since there all on the same boat they'll arive at the same time so the one with the best price in the end wins

Does anybody know if the SKS's will be import stamped?

i cannot imagine that they would be. that is a US law and the guns in canada that have them have been imported from the US (regardless of original source). and i don't think that russian SKS's are even importable into the US.

s**t !!!! this is a long thread?? just order one .....$169.00 is cheap!!

geez, if $169 is cheap then $165.99 is cheaper .
:D
