Congratulations! You will not regret buying it. It's not a "Mini" at all unless that word refers to the rimfire caliber. Mine shoots about 2" high at 25y with iron sights with CCI Standard. I didn't want to do any irreversible modifications of the original iron sights so, I mounted a small red dot. Now it shoots like a laser.
I see that you also have a "real deal". Nice comparison. Is your real Mauser a "Russian capture"?

Ok so the magazines on these really do suck. Does Norinco not even bother checking to see if the mags function in the rifle while designing it? I have 3 mags, not one will feed.
I’ll look into the other brand of mag mentioned above, and will have to reach out to Tenda.
The rear sight is set at the lowest it can go and it’s still ~3” high at 50m too.

I bought 3 mags for the CZ 452/455/457 (5 rounds). They are plastic with a metal follower. They work absolutely superbly in the JW25. The only problem is that they are quite expensive! I bought mine on sale at Doctor Deals. May be, you can find them on sale somewhere.

I showed Tenda a video of the mags failing and they agreed to take them back. I’ll grab some CZ ones.
Shooting high? I found that you can remove a small bit of metal from the ramp under the rear sight and you can lower it to your satisfaction. I removed a bit too much which didn’t present any problem and gave me room to try different ammo. I also found that there was windage”wiggle” in the rear sight and I tightened it up with vise grips on the ears of the rear sight. Windage adjustment can be done with the front sight after tightening up the rear. A little cold bluing took care of the aesthetics under the ramp. It sounds rough but you don’t want to see my cabinet work. Hope this helps.
I wouldn't be so harsh on Norinco on their manufacturing quality. The manufacturing quality of the rifle itself is very good. I'm not sure why Norinco is unable to make better magazines for these rifles. It's a bit weird to me. Easy way, they should copy a plastic 5rd CZ 452/455/457 magazine which would be a better solution than their metal one. With regard to a bayonet see my post #19. A replica of the K98k bayonet fits perfectly on the JW-25a. From a distance it looks like an original K98k.
What did you use to polish ?
I have multiple needle files, both conventional HSS and diamond grit, I also have die stones. Any edge on the bolt and action that feels like it could cut skin gets just enough filing to lose the sharpness and any burrs left from processing, then a few strokes with a 250 grit die stone to make it smooth. I use red lead or Prussian Blue to find any other spots that are binding and will polish usually with a diamond fiale followed by a buffing wheel with some compound. On mine I found that the trigger was rubbing the plate under the trigger guard, so I enlarged the opening with the file so it did not. I also found the bolt handle was binding against the bolt when cocking, it got smoothed, the firing pin was causing binding inside the bolt and spring retainer chanel. The firing pin was the roughest disgrace of machining I had ever laid eyes on. Norinco has no pride.
Do not over file or polish; let the gun wear in as well.
I totally don’t have those skills and tools to do what you did lol. Good job. Will probably use 1000grit paper and smoothen the edges after first range test. Thanks for the write up.

OK, so I bought the gun from Tenda ( anlong with my kids SKS and white RF 224 and after cleaning it up inspecting it looks very very nice. I took it to the range and I can say I’m impressed with accuracy at 20 yards approximately it shoots really nice. The one thing is it’s very hard to close the bolt down once you cycle the round in the chamber you have to actually really push hard down . If you don’t push it all the way down the firing pin will not touch the round so no fire. That’s the only problem I noticed I also installed the cheap knock off scope from Amazon for a $30 and I need to sight in which will do this weekend but so far the rifle is absolute gem. It shoots nice. I did not have many problems with the supplied Norinco magazine that came with rifle . only few jam ups at the beginning, but after that was shooting just fine cycling every round properly I fired the CCI standard and CCI target loads and it’s very accurate gun . I like it and now I put it on the wall and looks great even if it doesn’t fire, it still looks good as display gun for $375 all in I think it’s worth it. Now I need bayonet and accompanying helmet , and ammo pouches for my display.

WOW! The JW-25a rifles are out of stock now! Hopefully, they will be replenished by Tenda soon although who knows.
