How do these rifles hold up with commercial .308 or is it a reduce load sort of deal? May be very interested in this.
CIP shows 308 operating at a higher max pressure, they also show 7.5x55mm at a higher pressure than GP11.
I know of nobody in Switzerland that down loads 308 for use in Swiss rifles, but if you are abundantly cautious, reload.

Good to know. What would be the over all cost of swapping out a barrel on one of these?

For those who are not familiar with these rifles the ammunition is responsible for a great part of the rifle’s accuracy.
Here is a link to some very reputable information that explains the physics behind the legendary accuracy of the GP11 7.5X55 Swiss ammunition.

This cartridge combined with the painstaking machining of the K31 results in my being able to hit a 20X20” gong at 450 Yards, a feat I could not come close to with a .308 rifle. Friends of mine can hit the same gong at 650 yards. All shooting is done with military issued open iron sights, standing, using the military issued sling.
