Accurate shooting from a bench

Eric Cortina mentioned in a video that he does not pre load a bi pod. Because you never get the same pressure applied every time.
if you are using a bipod with skis, you can't pre load like you would with say a Harris... the rifle will slide forward

If you are shooting with feet or spikes under a foldy bipod (Atlas, ckyepod, harris, et al), you will need to preload and you can learn to get repeatable. As consistent as a FTR style bipod or a pedestal rest? no... at least not easily done. But yes, I do know shooters who can shot amazingly well with foldy bipods. Great skill/consistency and practise.

Can be done... just harder

Your correct, my mistake. Bi pod is what was meant. The reason I said this was it creates a straighter recoil path which is important in shooting accurate groups. I experimented quite a bit and my groups were consistently smaller while the legs were 90 as opposed to different angles. If you look at F Class pods theyre all 90 to the bore. I just connected the dots and it worked so I stuck with it. For BR shooting I would still use a good rest and bag. I have recently used a Mystic M Pod and have shot some of my best groups, its light and very well made. Thanks to JERRY
Glad the MPOD is working well for you.

Some of us have even mucked around with the stock/barreled action layout, butt stock parameters and recoil mitigation to improve tracking and follow through. F class out to 1000yds, it all can help.

Really appreciate the MPOD. But I understand you’ve retired, Jerry? Thinking maybe I should have picked up a backup unit, or one to put under my wife’s rifle.

Stock shape and how that plays on a rear bag is an ongoing exploration especially on irregular firing mounds at the local prone military range.

Never could shoot my 1403 and the Mpod ski feet because the angled stock.

But solved that issue and like to try the ski feet.

What is your favorite setup for accurate shooting from a bench? Front rest and rear bag? Front bipod and rear bag? Do you load the bipod by pressing into it with your shoulder? Or do you apply rearward pressure on the gun in some manner? Or, do you shoot allowing free recoil?
Bipod ...fixed shoulder rest .pull trigger on bottom of breath hold

There are too many different systems for attaching a bipod to the underside of a rifle. I went from oh no not another for the MPOD and wanting to adapt to ARCA to having a few rifles that take the MPOD natively.

Thanx OkayShooter.
If you buy an Mpod from Jerry he will make sure it comes so it will fit your rifle. In my opinion its one of the best systems out there and the price is rediculously fair. I have Harris bipods(5) Atlas (2) and various rests and bags. The MPod is a worthwhile piece to own. Im probably Going to buy others just to have, theyre that great.

Have you ever used one? Theyre very well made and light. You can tell some real thought went into designing this. Obviously youve never followed Jeryy and I disagreeing on certain things. When Kudos are deserved Ill gladly hand them out. This be that GOOD. NO I DONT GET FREE ANYTHING. Other than bites from Ticks, skitters and deer/horseflies. Im quite confident if the Libs could figure out a tax for that wed be payin it.

That is the downside of these bipods. Only mounts in a T slot, so you gotta either screw on a rail, or adapt the rail to whatever method of mounting you want.

Im sure Jerry has a better price on the T slot rail. I mean X reload wants close to 65$ for it.

I got 2 other guns I want to use this bipod on, but they both have studs.

A rifle that has two sling studs forward can mount a rail over those two bolt holes.

And some rifles (Anschutz, Tikka T3x Sporter, Sako Quad Range, etc) have stocks with that rail built in.
