Howdy all,

may seem like a silly question, but why have i never seen anyone mount a forward vertigal grip on a pistol? and yes, i know that some Submachine guns have the forward pistol grip.

Cheers

Most pistols are too short to make the mounting of a forward grip practical. It would also make it difficult to carry the gun in a holster. However, it could make sense on a pistol that is capable of fully automatic fire. Beretta 93-R came with a forward grip from the factory.

'Cuz it's dumb.

Direct and to the point! Even with new users. Gotta love CGN for that at least! :p

But Capp and Canuck are quite right. Why would you want a forward grip? The only use for it would be at a range as most real life uses for a handgun use a holster.

Having your hand forward would also slow down reloads in my opinion.

If you want a two handed gun then use a rifle or sub gun on a sling.

PS - welcome to CGN!

Shoulder stock attachment too (optional?). The only Beretta I would buy, if I could.

:onCrack:One shoulda fire one-handed most of the time. Foregrip is dumb on rifles as well, basically everything except subguns.

Ummmm Right.................

Foregrips allows positive control on the weapon when firing. Also helps push in the rifle and I find bring recoil down low, for greater follow up shots... Also great for full auto. Helps control the weapon better.

Thanks for the responses. and thanks for the welcome.
I had a buddy ask me why we never saw pistols with front grips, and i couldn't give him a decent reply other than size and having a fun time holstering it.

Appreciate it.

Glock makes a baseplate that goes on your mags allowing you to clip it on your accessory rail. so you can have a extra mag as well as a vertical grip...

Cool if your gonna put a longer barrel on it and a stock and make your Glock into a MINI SMG..

I knew there was a reason they put a picatinny rail on the Glock 21 SF!

If you put any force on the VFG, the dustcover/rail thing bends. It's not designed as a structural component, but on a steel framed gun it might not be as utterly useless as this. It's also very difficult and uncomfortable to try and get a real shooting stance with a proper sight picture. My support hand is also very close to being in front of the muzzle.

Verdict: Bad Idea :runaway:

This might be slightly off topic but I perused a class 3 manufacturer site in the USA that made 7.62mm Miniguns, they also made adapters that allowed one to use a 9mm beta mag with a Glock 9mm, I watched a clip that showed a class 3 glock 9mm smg with the beta mag, the guy let loose with one long assed 100 round burst with not a hiccup. Pretty sweet, I don't know how long it could shoot like that though, you'd think it would get pretty hot.

here's the page that has the download.

Glock doesn't make the base plate. Command Arms accessories does. Glock wouldn't produce such a useless product.
