Swiss Arms SAPR in low rate production

Just keep hoping that it goes into real production so everyone, not just the Swiss, will be able to buy one. A SIG 542 would be just as nice but no one has seen fit to order any from the FAMAE factory in Chile. This could have put 308 rifles into our hands decades ago.

there won't be anything else then this low rate production, the market for such a rifle just isn't that big.

In Canada, beggers can't be choosers!

If it is available, I bet the price tag is anything but what most will consider to be "affordable".

If it will retail anywhere near the current Swiss Arms rifles, I'm down for one. If its in the $5000 range probably not.

And Kev...that was just mean poking fun at the 552s :)

I hate how we have to rest our hopes on them making something like this to get a nice non-restricted black/green rifle in .308.

I'd be happy if we could own a FN FAL. Whenever I see one on tv or see a posting for one in the exchange it just drives me nutz. Part of our Canadian heritage from the 50's to what 1984, and we can't own them. Insanity. Makes me dream about moving south.

Even when we could own FN's, they were restricted. Kind of takes the "fun" out of it, not getting to lug one around in the bush  Actually you'd have to throw in leaky rain gear and crunchy packaged food for the full effect.

i'm sure KevinB can point you to the thread where that issue is explained in detail. less to do with inspections and more to do with a crap part.
I am sure but given the fact of I.N.P. has a received far superior weapons training  than those received by the US and Canadian Police agencies and also when BigRed and Kevin arrived on scene these were not new firearms and may not have been properly cared for. The important thing is a preventable maintenance program can all but alleviate most failures.

I've never been a policeman in Canada but I wouldn't doubt that Hilla SWAT (the unit issued Sigs) gets better rifle/carbine training than the average north american cop. They have a pretty intense shooting package as part of their course taught by SF.

also when BigRed and Kevin arrived on scene these were not new firearms and may not have been properly cared for.

Actually when I 'arrived on scene' I was issued a new sig as they had just been imported.

As I said before though, I don't have any problems with the longer Sigs, so I doubt there will be any issues with the 7.62 version. If they come in, I'll put my name on the list for one.

First of all, you don't have a 552, you have a civilian semi-auto version. Second, before you insult a long time member, maybe you should get some idea who the person you're calling a "complete ignorant *bleep*" actually is. I'm pretty sure that KevinB shot a 552 before; he may have even shot people with it.

In any case, with attitude like this, your name will probably be gracing the banned users list in short order.

it would seem coincidental that the breakage was the same issue if it was a maintenance thing. i definatley don't have any fear that that problem will show in a SA canadian version though and i'll be on this rifle like a fat kid on smarties.
