Hey guys,
I won a cheaper savage 11 (like the 2010 model thats actually blued, with a metal mag/mag release) and after about a year of having it in my safe I finally went to the range this morning to sight in. It shoots nice, but it doesn't eject shells.
The "plunger" that should keep pressure on the shell to eject is stuck down in the bolt face. Almost like the spring is either MIA or pooched. Ive watched countless Youtube videos on how to remove by punching that pin out of the bolt head, but I cannot get this pin out to remove extractor and check spring. Some guys have said you need to put slight pressure on it but in my case seeing as its in the bolt head I can't do that. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it short of ordering a new bolt face with ejector already installed and changing it out? Obviously by doing that, id have to check headspace after which I guess isn't the end of the world but id have to order go/no-go gauges.
Ill attach photos to this post so you can see what i'm talking about. Ive also found the "claw" extractor on the side is missing the ball between it and the spring, I feel like someone either fired a real hot round of it or they had no clue what they were doing tinkered with this and royally messed it up, or maybe both. I guess the bright side is the rifle cost me $20 but still kind of annoying....
