I don’t know Chuck - I have not shot my 7 RM for so long to compare - I would think so is if you keep the coal at sammi lenght of 3.340 Equal .Can the PRC catch the 7MM Remington Magnum in the velocity department yet?

Ok CAN - WILL you give me some CONCRETE strong comparisons Pleaseit can’t yet, no.
So you guys made me start comparing. I started checking case capacity first thinking there would be big differences in favor of the RM but my books weren't showing that based on same type bullets. Check around the 11 min mark of this vid and you will see what I mean. I have huge respect for Guy Miner as we have chatted a number of times on the Nosler forum and I find him to be reasonably unbiased. He typically favors whatever works best for it's given purpose. As of yet I have not finished watching this video but thought it was appropriate given the nature of you guys debating of the two cartridges.Ok CAN - WILL you give me some CONCRETE strong comparisons Please![]()

The ones I got were HHT's 170's very long and heavy. I used JBM stability calculator before purchasing that indicated they were on the edge with a 1-9" twist. Hammer specified 1-8" for them but I thought they may work. They just key holed. The velocity was good though. But that dog wasn't gonna hunt. They are exceptional in the right conditions. Just stupid price at the time I bought them. They have dropped in price now but with current cross border I have no idea what the end cost will be.I’ve shot Hammers in the 7MM RM

You need to send that rifle back for warranty work, they put the bolt handle on the wrong side !!!!
Fill your boots. So Chuck I will load up some 7 PRC’s with 69 grs of RL26 and 145 Barnes LRX bullets at SAMMI. Lenght of 3.340 and see what they will do for accuracy and speed
Also will load a few more with more powder and some with GRAND and see what I can get the lowly 7 PRC to do .![]()
Nice rifle.Mountain hunting normally means being in grizzly country so I pack a 338win mag Dakota 76 rifle.
by the way Chuck what for SURE is your COAL as measured to fit a Mag box ?Fill your boots.![]()
Hmmm. I'll say NOT, and likely not even in the top 3, but since I've never owned one to compare I'll wait a year or so and buy one of the many that will be up for grabs on the EE ...as happened with the 6.5 world beater version. The 7 MM PRC. The Best all around 7 mm Cartridge ever designed![]()
