Helicopter Hog Hunting, Texas

My great nephew and his mom went heli Hogg hunting in Texas. He said it was awsum. I didn’t ask costs or anything though. It’s something I’d definitely be interested in.

One buddy does a yearly pilgrimage to Texas and blind hunts piggies. Another pair did the helicopter thing years ago and are still grinning from ear to ear. You need the bucks to hunt the pigs but do it while you can. The closest I came was watching an American helicopter flying the Montana/Saskatchewan border while shooting gophers this summer. Awesome.

Heli-Hog hunting is simply too rich for my blood.
We've all seen your collection. You definitely could afford a trip to Tx if you chose to.

For us, we were contemplating a totally different trip to do something potentially very fun and interesting but that came with the potential for it to not work out and it also involved travel to the EU, which now requires handing over fingerprints etc to Brussels, which we were def not keen on.

if it doesn't hurt anyone else and is deemed to be safe, go for it. How far that goes in terms of suppressors and go-fast guns remains to be seen
I don't think I'd hold my breath on Albertan gaining the ability to own / use silencers and FAs. Its fun to dream but realistically its a seriously long shot that would require a miracle or two.

Nope - to afford a few hours of admittedly enjoyable aerial Hog Hunting in TX I'd have to sell off some of my collection which I am not willing to do. I am still expanding my 12(X) holdings to fill various gaps, seeing as those are ironically the only interesting purchasing opportunity left to us older types. Long live Switzer's Auction House!

I could see Suppressors being permitted on the basis of Hearing Loss Prevention and nuisance noise reduction. AB would need only grant an exemption from prosecution for those particular prohibited devices. It just has to be sold to the Provincial Powers That Be, when the time is right. That time being after AB has established control over the administration and lawful use of firearms within the province.

Full-Autos for everyone? Highly doubtful, I agree. Full-auto RENTALS for everyone? Already happening in AB....

Well we all have to make our choices in life. :p I've got some interesting collectible pieces but man do I want to go hang out of a helicopter racing across the scrubland a low altitude, slaying piggies by the dozens. Friggen Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" playing in my mind the entire time.:ROFLMAO:

The OH&S angle on sound mitigation is how the Brits beat their government. Turns out that our federal OH&S laws are virtually the same as in the UK. We just need to take the govt to court.

I can kinda see the potential for the province to declare they won't go after people possessing and using PPE, but the sticking point could be the businesses willing to stick their neck in the noose and dare the feds not to come after them. A retail outlet selling the things would make an inviting and easy target for the RCMP.

hey man.... if hunting hogs from a helo for 2500 an hour turns your crank then by all means.... spend away brother, spend away.
I have other interests that kind of money could fund that would be more of a memorable experience ..... for me. Like buying a 26ft ocean boat instead

A. $12k isn't going to buy you an ocean boat.
B. 26' is a puddle jumper, not an ocean boat.

FWIW I've done the ocean sailing thing. Ours was a 40' cutter that we sailed to Tahiti and Fiji for a year.

The two things are not remotely the same. Kinda like comparing sky diving with marriage.

man, yer getting awfully twisted over me thinking heli hunting is "meh" at 2500 an hour LOL
considering all the crying going on from ranchers in the south wanting state funds for eradication programs
These heli hunting outfits are making out like bandits.
Nope 12k isn't buying a new ocean boat ..... that won't even cover the electronics ....... more like 60K for what i'm looking at..... and years of building memories with friends ahead.
I would spend on a guided hunt if the bug really caught me but heli hunting is just not really on my list.
if it's on yours, that's great man, don't let my opinion stand in your way of a good time.
I'd rather spend on a trip to the seychelles , wading blue water coral flats with a 9wt flyrod..... buts that's my idea of a good time I guess.

k...... I will concede.... LOL after talking about this with my wife, she seems to think it would be a blast to take a vacation to shoot hogs from a chopper LOL although she reminded me that we have family in arizona and texas , one with a ranch, so why would we bother with a helicopter?
ahhh my wife is a hoot. She did also say she would rather hunt hogs with a tank..... she has an odd facination with tanks but then again she is a bosnian serb LOL

I would pay to use a GE M134 minigun from a chopper to tenderize some tasty bacon.
I think that is actually an option with one of the heli hunting outfits.

There are vids of guys using side-by-sides to chase down and shoot hogs. I'd fricken love to do that but the place we are going didn't seem to offer that. They do a night thermal "spot & stalk" kind of hunt, which I think we are gonna do as well.
