He didn't ask about that, he asked about feeding reliably with JHP ammo.I just tried to find the FRT on armalytics and I can't find it. Forgive my ignorance but it's prohibited right? Somewhat irrelevant what works in it or not
I did. Notice I said it's irrelevant, ie it's prohibited and we as law abiding owners can't shoot it.He didn't ask about that, he asked about feeding reliably with JHP ammo.
Some of you really gotta start reading and paying attention to the first post of a thread.
You do realize that some people are still able to (legally) own and shoot anything prohib, right?I just tried to find the FRT on armalytics and I can't find it. Forgive my ignorance but it's prohibited right? Somewhat irrelevant what works in it or not
To my knowledge that's only the actual full auto/converted autos that were prohibited in the 70s or 80s or whatever. And they won't give you an att to take it to a range, it has to be stored on site of a range or something to that effect, then since you dont need to transport it youre okay to shoot it. But I have been known to be wrong before. You do realize that some people are still able to (legally) own and shoot anything prohib, right?

You are. I have met many people with business licenses that permit possession/ownership/use of all types of prohibited firearms (named prohibs, full auto, short barreled, etc.) and prohibited devices (suppressors, full cap mags) at almost any place it is legal to discharge a firearm. You would be surprised to know what people legally own and use out there beyond the interwebz. But I have been known to be wrong before.
Not legally. On a side note, if you have a safe place to shoot on your own private land, could you still shoot one of those OIC guns ?
Sadly, not.So, if I applied for a buisness license to say, import bolt action rifles, I would be able to get say, an mg42 full auto, and shoot it at any gun club/range?
This is assuming it's fairly easy to get a buisness license?
Okay, thank you, I learned something new todaySadly, not.
Roughly in order:
1) When you apply there are lots of choices to be made. You have to tick a box for every thing you want, from possession and transport for each class of firearm, whether you want to possess them only or manufacture/repair them, import/export and so on. Manufacturing firearms for sale and movie armourer are the most expensive licenses, but most of the other options are pretty reasonable.
To get prohib access you need to have a legitimate business activity that requires it. You can't just apply and make something up, they will check and require documentation for your story.
I was going to post a link to the application form, but it seems to have been taken down or hidden away somewhere. The form is titled "RCMP GRC 5486e" and is a fillable pdf. If you can find it online and download it all the details of the license and fees are in there.
The licensing regulations that dictate the rules: https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-199/index.html
Part 2 covers business licenses and section 22 gives the prescribed purposes for getting a license.
2) I don't know if the CFO will explicitly prohibit you from using full auto at a range, but they STRONGLY discourage it and most (maybe all?) ranges won't allow it. I think the reason it is heavily discouraged is the powers that be don't want the peons to realize that some people get to have all the fun things they are prohibited from owning. This might cause some serious discontent and heart burn for the authorities if it became common knowledge.
3) As noted above, it is not easy to get a business license. Once you have one it isn't too hard to keep it, but there are substantial barriers to entry in the first place.
