and the government said that for the buyback they consider just the receiver as the complete firearm. So technically if you take the barrel off it could have been barreled with a 338LM or 460 that qualified as prohibited.

have just finished cutting the extractor groove and screwing on the 44 Mag barrel on a No4Mk1 action and I'm looking for a synthetic stock,

and I am just waiting to get a 22Hornet reamer to finish up a 22Hornet on a No1MkIII action.

Getting an authorization to transport a prohib to/from a professional Ceracoater for the purpose of making it pink before turning it in might amuse the CFO but might also be too much like work, so maybe a rattlecan finish at home would do. Is it possible to maybe sprinkle glitter over it while the paint is still wet?

A straight pull action lends itself to a pump action conversion. Locking/unlocking is accomplished by linear motion.
