Co witness m4 or similar

I went with a QR mount on my Aimpoint Micro, that way it's nice and open with no clutter. That way, if something ever did manage to happen, I can get it off really quick (I got the ADM low mount). However you might get away with something like a Scalarworks mount depending on which optic.

A tube optic like an Aimpoint Micro would be the lowest mount you could get IMHO.

- Edit - Didn't have a decent image of it....

The other option, which is a lot of work, is to get a shorter (in height) pic rail, I did this with my little Benelli Supernova (I had to make the rail, cut it shorter, which isn't exactly easy even if you know what you're doing), and managed to get a Bushnell TRS-25 to co-witness. (The TRS-25 has an integral mount, so it mounts about 2mm or so lower than something like an Aimpoint Micro or clones)

Nice Benellis you have there! Can I ask (for a friend) where you got the heat shield for the supernova? Feel free to PM if we should keep this thread on topic.

Back to optics, even when mounted on the mesa tactical side saddle (that rail sits a bit higher than original), the ScalarWorks LEAP mount and Holosun AEMS have enough of a clearance gap in the riser that you can see thru in-between the mount and still use the ghost ring sights.

Thanks! The heat shield on the Supernova is a very heavily customized one (I think for a mossberg 500) that I got from Slade Street Tactical (in the US, but they ship up here)

I have some more info on it in the thread I made here: 14" SuperNova heat shield down to post #5.

when the dot dies can still use irons and its very easy to use. not very cluttered
I'm well aware of this. How many people here have had an aimpoint or something equivalent die while at the range or don't bring spare barreries? Anything other than just the dot is cluttered IMO. Not sure how many people shoot slugs on plates at 100 yards or more but an unimpeded dot allows you to see more of the target.

I agree, as far as RMR goes no one usually has the tools/torque driver to pull it off the place and replace the battery properly.
Also how many people just pull their stuff off and change the battery regardless after a year just cause? not many.
I get your point of FOV and unobstructed dot however some just want that redundancy, and where ill disagree to a bit, I don't find it cluttered to the point of being a loss. Gives and takes with anything.
just trying to give the OP some options to what hes asking. End of the day each to their own we all have our own specifics, what's good for me
may not be good for others. However appreciate the respective conversation.
always good to chat and learn. cheers!

Very nice. Pretty sure I'll have to go with no co witness. Sight in the irons and the dot. Remove the dot if it fails. For myself its not that crucial. Still have bui if the optic fails.
