Just snagged a 375 Ruger Alaskan off the EE. Naturally it comes with a hogue stock which I’m not a fan of.

Looks like McMillan and Bansner don’t inlet for the 77 anymore, and wildcat only does the 77 tang safety.

What are my options other than factory Tupperware or wood?

Not generally a fan of B&C due to the fat grip and weight.

Brown precision and MPI make them, but end up being 1500 bucks after you have someone finish it.

Has anyone tried a HS precision Ruger stock? They look heavy as well with the bedding block but it might be ok if they aren’t shaped like a 2x4

Thanks in advance

Is there a reason that you couldn’t use one of wildcats with tang safety beside the hole for the safety. Possible jb weld for filling in. Please keep me updated as might have to do one someday

i don’t think the original 77 had the goofy angled action screw so the inletting is diffent. That’s why McMillan never offered the edge fill for the mk2 j

My M77 MKII 7mm rem mag also needs a new stock. She's been hunted hard in shiddy weather for too many seasons now. Still sturdy but looking terrible LOL
As a former stock maker (of now banned firearms) I'm looking at what is out there, slim pickins, and the prices...... might just have to spend the winter making one myself LOL

I've bought factory stocks from someplace in Quebec before, might have been Gravel but I'm not sure. Boyds also does Ruger stocks.

shape can be altered which may shave a few ounces but they weigh what they do cuz they are well built
nice palm swell as well as a nice wide butt to disperse some recoil

or you could try a lightweight like Wildcat for that bad boy 375

Original m77 has angle front screw
Ruger hawkeye compact has angle
Front screw
Ruger mk 2 has angle front screw
Checked on all 3

I stand corrected. Thank you for that info
The M77 & MKII/Hawkeye both have the angled front anchor bolt, but the inletting is completely different, so make sure any stock you order is for the Mark II or Hawkeye. Your best bet and most reasonably priced option is the B&C that you don't like the feel of... PR carries them. I agree that the wrist is ever so slightly thicker than I would prefer, but small trade off. The weight is not more than the standard laminate and I would bet, lighter than the Hogue. Personally, I don't give a ratz azz about weight. I have several of the B&C stocks on MKII rifles and they have been great.

Hoyt have you ever tried an HS precision? I’ve read they’re similar to the b&c but slimmer

At this point I might just try to find a walnut Hawkeye stock.

How do you like those Alaska arms drop belly’s?

Are those Leupold rings?

My MK1 in a B&C that Mitch Kendall fitted, bedded and refinished. B&C is definitely the way to go ! Mitch can probably also slim where needed. It is also not heavier than the laminate or the factory 2x4. Just keep in mind that there's no such thing as a drop fit aftermarket stock if you are in any way picky. Yes, as above, they all have the angled front action screw. It takes some getting used to, but not in any way a detraction.

The Alaskan Arms Coffin mag plates work well, for standard and magnum cartridges. I bought one of those for my .375 WSM, but as it turns out, they do not work with the WSM case, just a little too tight. So I have the coffin mags on my .458 WM Carbine (4 down) and my 7.62X57 (5 down). I bought one used MKII that was in an HS, stock was alright, the grip is slimmer, but I didn't care for the forend, it is more vertically oval and didn't sit in my oversized mitts the way I prefer. Yes, all the rings are Leupold 30mm Mediums, they are the lowest available options for 30mm scopes that fit the Ruger proprietary mounts.

Man the moment you go on the Alaska arms site a ruger costs an additional 800 bucks.

The qd rings and the coffin mag are must buys for this rifle

Thanks for the info. Where are you buying your Leupold rings? Can’t seem to find any in stock
