could you not shoot a single bullet at a moving targetMany of us use shotguns to shoot flying or running targets, that provide a challenge, not stationary targets, that can be shot with a single bullet.

i dont think it will be my lastOne thing is certain, whether you shoot clays or 3 gun, hunt waterfowl or upland, if the shotgun bug hits you the first shotgun you buy will not be your last.![]()
You won't hit many birds flying 40-50mph at 40 yards with a single bullet, and it isn't legal for migratory birds in most locations.could you not shoot a single bullet at a moving target
thats fairYou won't hit many birds flying 40-50mph at 40 yards with a single bullet, and it isn't legal for migratory birds in most locations.
When you settle on a shotgun, go to a skeet field or sporting clays field, and see how you do. If you have trouble with a pattern of hundreds of pellets, how much tougher do you think it would be to hit thse tarrgets with one bullet. Even people that stand behind their own clay target thrower, find skeet and sporting clays difficult, because the clays are not going straight away, and require feet of lead.thats fair

thats a good deal, how is the reliability on one of those?Just get a Blue Line pump .... a rock solid 870 clone .... $279.99 at Blullseye North.
Go shoot a couple of rounds of skeet and trap .... and see if that gun works for you.
At least it gives you some experience .... and ideas for what you are looking for if you want to upgrade.
There isn't much lost at $279.99 .... and you can probably resell it for $300.-

my biggest hookup was the price of semis, but with the EE prices are looking betterFor your intended use, a semi-auto 12ga, 24 inch or more barrel with interchangeable chokes. You can put anything through it except slugs. Mossberg 930 or 940, Remington 1100, Beretta A300, Benelli M2 Field or Nova/SuperNova, to name a few.
thats a good deal, how is the reliability on one of those?
Something to consider: Shot is only dangerous for about 300 to 400 yards. A bullet shot in the air can be lethal for 2km to what 5 km?could you not shoot a single bullet at a moving target
good to know i might snag the long barrel oneThe Blue Line pump is a rock solid 870 clone. Fit and finish is better than the old 870 Express ones.
And the 870 is a proven and reliable design.

yeah, i plan on feeling a lot of gunsGo to the skeet or sporting range, look at the guns and ask questions. Fit is very important and instructions are worth the cost. An auto loader is ideal for waterfowl and works for sporting. Remember a $3000 gun that does not fit will not outshoot a 300 gun.
good to know i have seen a lot of these on the EEtactical - pump
benelli supernova
benelli nova 3
remington 870P
mossberg 590 (A1, S)
hunting/trap - pump
benelli nova
benelli supernova
winchester sxp
mossberg 500
budget - pump or semi
mossberg maverick 88
girsan mc312
stoeger m3500
All should be at or under $1000.00 before tax if you shop around
Boltgun
mossberg 500s have been plentiful on the EE and with the longer barrels they are looking goodSupposedly Mossberg 835 barrels can be used with the 590 with the 18.5 inch barrel, a problem that I see with the 590 is that it would need to be sent to a Gunsmith to install choke tubes.
How about a Mossberg 500 or 835 combo?
Get the gun you want, it's your money.
I don’t competition skeet shoot, just me and a buddy with our own thrower, the 3-1/2 loads is because we find them best for long distance shooting, we don’t hunt from a blind so when you see a duck you shoot it from whatever distance you can get close enoughI don't bother with 3-1/2" loads, as they just increase cost and recoil. As for single shots, they are worthless for skeet or sporting clays, and you can't shoot doubles or triples while wing shooting birds.
