First shotgun recommendations?

I don’t competition skeet shoot, just me and a buddy with our own thrower, the 3-1/2 loads is because we find them best for long distance shooting, we don’t hunt from a blind so when you see a duck you shoot it from whatever distance you can get close enough
If you think that you need 3-1/2" loads, then you either aren't close enough, or your wingshooting needs work. The shot from a 3" load has the same velocity and energy as a 3-1/2" load, you just throw more shot, so you get more shot hitting with inadequate energy, or you miss with more shot.

i didn't know they cared on courses, but it makes sense to level the playing field against the the dude with the 13 round tube on his Benelli
It's that most clay shooting disciplines you get one shot per bird, (There is a exception. to this Olympic trap but thats another thing)
so if shooting trap doubles then two shells or sporting clays two shells unless there having a special 3 bird event.

Exactly, having more magazine capacity offers zero advantage on a trap/skeet/sporting clays field.
