I was in my local CT earlier today and as always I took a quick walk down the firearms aisle. I was very surprised to see standard Ruger Americans priced $60 higher than Tikka T3X Lites. I would place the Tikka as a much better rifle. That said I do have a Ruger American Ranch 5.56 with AR mags that I bought when my one son was about 15 for him to use at some informal matches we attend after the AR was placed under house arrest. He's smaller statured and the Ranch was a good fit for him and detachable mags are a benefit in these matches. He loves it (I think its meh) and the price I paid at the time was less than half what they go for now so all good. But still lol

Both rifles costs have been creeping up for longer than the meddling although the meddling has recently added to the bottom line.
I think this is due to increased popularity, albeit in my opinion for different reasons.
I think one has increased in popularity due to its perceived quality and versatility.
The other I think due to its name in its domestic market (wrap a flag around anything and it sells - not a criticism, just an observation).
After owning both the Tikka is light years better than the American and I think resale prices reflect that, even though both are very accurate in my experiences.
That said, like everything they’re both way to expensive now for what they are…when released they were both value guns and neither are now.

Yes they are and some of there prices are ok some are ridiculous lol. But today I got a set of Hornady custom die set for $75 brand new. But they don’t have much stuff in there, I mean they don’t have much for stuff I can use or want

If accuracy over all else was the pursuit, for years the Ruger was the standout value, $300 less than the Tikka, and good enough to get the job done, value to dollar wise, you couldn't beat it. Now, with the weak CAD dollar, import fees and tariffs, the Tikka represents the better deal, when you can score a Tikka for $100 more than a Ruger. Previously i had 4 or 5 Ruger Americans and though I had bought a couple of Tikka's I ultimately sold them all. Now i have 1 American and 4 Tikkas. 
Ruger prices haven't really gone up stateside, you can pick one up for $450-$550. Now what are they up here? Over $1000 CAD?

The m77 is sold under the Hawkeye name now, although there have been some changes since the original M77 was released. The scouts are Hawkeye rifles as well. Expect to pay well north of $1500 and upwards of $2200 for a current one, depending on caliber and features.
