No, it’s not cosmetic…the extension allows more 2-3/4 shells than stock, legally, so it is a functional item.
Can you explain this a bit more? So, it allows for more 2-3/4 shells but not 3 inch shells?

stock is approximately 5.2 x 3” shells and 5.7 x 2-3/4” shells…the extension allows 5.8 x 3” shells and 6.3 x 2-3/4” shellsCan you explain this a bit more? So, it allows for more 2-3/4 shells but not 3 inch shells?
The facts aren't as exciting. Stoeger recently got a shipment in and distributed them to the retailers.

Great job .... love the camo pattern!!
Courious .... your magazine extension .... what is it for? And how did you permanently disable it?
It is a Nordic Components extension permanently plugged by TacordGreat job .... love the camo pattern!!

Yes as is it holds 5+1 in 3"Quick question. Why the pinned extension? The 1301 holds 5+1 from the factory. Extra weight for forward balance?
I used a piece of plastic tubing that fit inner diameter of extension cut to appropriate length then epoxied in.I am a bit confused folks ....
So, it is my understanding hat these Beretta 1301s come in a 5+1 configuration ..... is that correct?
Meaning the magazine tube will hold 5 rounds of 3 inch shells and one goes into the chamber.
And that would be the legal maximum allowed and this will meet legal requirements in Canada.
So, these magazine extension look cool ..... but how do you disable those carbon fiber tubes permanently?
You fill them with epoxy .... or something?
Yes, you can ghost load with the pro lifter.Looks like the 1301 Pro Comp is 5+1 as standard.
Couple of things worth mentioning, the 1301 Pro Comp has a 3.5" receiver but only a 3" barrel meaning it cannot fire 3.5" ammo.
So the stock 5+1 means 5 rounds of 3" ammo in the magazine (as per the law) and one in the chamber. Because the 1301 has that Pro Lifter I am unsure if you can also "Ghost Load" (ie put round on the lifter) for a total of 7 rounds of 3" (ie 1 in chamber + 1 on lifter + 5 in magazine).
It has been my experience that a gun with a 5 round magazine for 3" ammo will hold 6 rounds of 2 3/4" ammo (total would go up to 8 - ie 1 in chamber + 1 on lifter + 6 in magazine).
To be clear this is legal. And yes, Canadian gun laws can be hard to navigate but at least this one makes practical sense.
If a longer aftermarket magazine tube is purchased for aesthetics and it results in the gun being able to hold more than 5 rounds of 3" ammo (in the magazine only) then it must be permanently plugged - I am unsure how this is achieved but guessing gluing in a block of some kind and / or pining?
I will let others more versed in such things confirm this aspect.
same with my 14" benelli supernova "tactical"I have forever been doing everything with my “tactical” shotgun, a 14” Fabarm Martial Pro Forces (with different external chokes). It has taken deer, turkey, pheasant, clays, and the obligatory water filled pumpkins, cans, and paper targets…I just Black Friday’d a new Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 and will be getting extra chokes so I can be doing the same with it as I did the Fabarm.
stock is approximately 5.2 x 3” shells and 5.7 x 2-3/4” shells…the extension allows 5.8 x 3” shells and 6.3 x 2-3/4” shells
Unless it is a 3.5" chambered gun where you can have a +2 of 2 3/4 shells but still only hold 5 3.5" shellsSo a one shot extension makes some sense but anything longer needs to be pinned.
And? They both make complete sense with one having a slight aesthetic bent to it…So a one shot extension makes some sense but anything longer needs to be pinned.
As a do all starter shotgun, I’d honestly say get a mossberg 590 or a Remington 870P, 870 field or 87” wingmaster. Cheap to accessorize with barrels, stocks,
Not a super helpful comment considering the content of the thread but just to clarify...
If you have a safe (not cabinet) your gun doesn't have to be trigger locked and the ammunition can be stored together in that same safe.
Carry on![]()
A lockable gun cabinet is a safe by definition. A judge in Ontario made that ruling a few years ago. He referenced Websters Dictionary for the definition of a safe. Unless that ruling has been appealed, and i have not heard it has, his ruling stands for all of Canada.Later if you get into serious goose hunting or 3 gun you can look at performance semi autos, in my opinion.
Haven't heard of that case... but just to be "safe"A lockable gun cabinet is a safe by definition. A judge in Ontario made that ruling a few years ago. The case was reported on this website.

Congrats! New gun day's are always excitingShe finally arrived. I purchased it from Tenda Canada. After purchasing it, it went on sale for black Friday. I emailed them and they honored the new price and knocked 300 dollars off the price as advertised. I think that for now I will purchase an Airdus industries universal Quick detach carrier and the Vortex Viper multi reticle scope. Later on down the road, I may pick up a longer barrel. I don't plan on ever requiring another shotgun. I will also pick up a good turkey choke or something else that will give me a nice tight pattern for partridge. Thanks again everyone. I am loving all of the suggestions and comments. It gives me more ideas to research.
