Beretta 1301 comp pro - do it all work horse? Yay or nay?

On this gun I'm using Trulock Precision Hunter Chokes, and on the blue Pro am using Beretta Black Edition chokes. Haven't shot much skeet with either yet, but with my 21" Benelli M2 I wound up using IC or M most and mainly M or F for trap. The Comp Pro's have been on feathered pigeon duty mainly, and the occasional gopher.
 
My former pimped 1301 Comp 21", never should've let that one go.

So, it is my understanding hat these Beretta 1301s come in a 5+1 configuration ..... is that correct?
Meaning the magazine tube will hold 5 rounds of 3 inch shells and one goes into the chamber.

And that would be the legal maximum allowed and this will meet legal requirements in Canada.

So, these magazine extension look cool ..... but how do you disable those carbon fiber tubes permanently?
You fill them with epoxy .... or something?

Im sure you can google some results showing shot patterns between barrel lengths. 24 may be better for skeet shooting though.

I have forever been doing everything with my “tactical” shotgun, a 14” Fabarm Martial Pro Forces (with different external chokes). It has taken deer, turkey, pheasant, clays, and the obligatory water filled pumpkins, cans, and paper targets…I just Black Friday’d a new Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 and will be getting extra chokes so I can be doing the same with it as I did the Fabarm.

Looks like the 1301 Pro Comp is 5+1 as standard.

Couple of things worth mentioning, the 1301 Pro Comp has a 3.5" receiver but only a 3" barrel meaning it cannot fire 3.5" ammo.

So the stock 5+1 means 5 rounds of 3" ammo in the magazine (as per the law) and one in the chamber. Because the 1301 has that Pro Lifter I am unsure if you can also "Ghost Load" (ie put round on the lifter) for a total of 7 rounds of 3" (ie 1 in chamber + 1 on lifter + 5 in magazine).

It has been my experience that a gun with a 5 round magazine for 3" ammo will hold 6 rounds of 2 3/4" ammo (total would go up to 8 - ie 1 in chamber + 1 on lifter + 6 in magazine).

To be clear this is legal. And yes, Canadian gun laws can be hard to navigate but at least this one makes practical sense.

If a longer aftermarket magazine tube is purchased for aesthetics and it results in the gun being able to hold more than 5 rounds of 3" ammo (in the magazine only) then it must be permanently plugged - I am unsure how this is achieved but guessing gluing in a block of some kind and / or pining?

I will let others more versed in such things confirm this aspect.
 
^ I think the short tube is 5 rounds of 2-3/4 making the S&J hardware +1 for Canada tube extension high in demand

Another option is importing a shotgun out of the US and having it pinned (a bit pricy and a bit of a wait)

The only reason to put a magazine extension on a shotgun that can already hold the maximum allowable by law would be cosmetic. People can do as they choose with their firearms but buying a magazine extension and having to pin all of it doesn't seem to make much practical sense.
 
Conspiracy theory: multiple firearms businesses have advertised a sale on the 1301, these past two weeks. I have a feeling firearms businesses were notified of an impending OIC at the behest of #Polycrysomemore. And these businesses are trying to offload their stock before it becomes radioactive and banned.

Agreed, it would have to be for aesthetic purposes.

Each to their own, weight has its purpose in firearms but for me the last place I would want more weight is at the end of the barrel.

Interesting theory.

In one of the previous bans a couple of years ago (cant remember which one as there were so many under King Turdhole) they included a high number of semi auto shotguns and it backfired because a high profile Hockey player went public on calling it out which ultimately gained enough traction that the gun grabbers backed down.

I like to think this is still fresh in their empty heads and puts them off but we are almost at the annual pearl clutching event where they seek airtime / relevance. Crazy to think that they are still beating the same tired drum after all this time.

The facts aren't as exciting. Stoeger recently got a shipment in and distributed them to the retailers.

No, it’s not cosmetic…the extension allows more 2-3/4 shells than stock, legally, so it is a functional item.
