How to mount a red dot on a slide that was not built for this

So far I got to here.

:) either a pistol is small, or the mini red dot looks big. But the aiming windows is decent size.
I could not test it yet, about a foot of snow is outside and most likely at my club as well.

An interesting solution for sure, I’m guessing it would be lower hight if it was bolted directly to the slide instead of using a pic rail but it looks like this method causes the least amount of damage to the slide

I didn't want to invest more $ to get one mounting plate with this red dot footprint. Ordering directly from mfg plus shipping is not so cheap anymore. There are many available on amazon but no posted dimensions for footprints and that is a POS as well.
If the pistol can group well on target that may justify the further expense, but otherwise stays as a plinker.

In Aurora, but not an Aurora Gun Club member or you'd be shooting indoors.

Thanks for reminding me, I have 3 gun ranges around me in close proximity, I believe two are walkins.
Otherwise I am a member in SGC, 14 Km door to door.
The weatherman promising this week may be two days above 0C, this what I am targeting.
