How to mount a red dot on a slide that was not built for this

An interesting solution for sure, I’m guessing it would be lower hight if it was bolted directly to the slide instead of using a pic rail but it looks like this method causes the least amount of damage to the slide
I didn't want to invest more $ to get one mounting plate with this red dot footprint. Ordering directly from mfg plus shipping is not so cheap anymore. There are many available on amazon but no posted dimensions for footprints and that is a POS as well.
If the pistol can group well on target that may justify the further expense, but otherwise stays as a plinker.

either a pistol is small, or the mini red dot looks big. But the aiming windows is decent size.
I could not test it yet, about a foot of snow is outside and most likely at my club as well.

Curious to see how it holds up. I have a couple of TT33 and did think about a small dot. I found someone that made a plate that slides into the dovetails. Maybe ebay. Decided not to. Makes the gun too bulky. I do a sort of instinctive and aim with the irons mix if that makes sense. Look forward to the range report
The barrel is very pitted. I am curious as well, I can I test it now with this new red dot.
Btw, I can mount it lower with a plate I just need to order it from mfg. but for now so far the mounting with that small chunk of picatinny costed me nothing.
