New Lipsey’s Ruger M77 Alaskan in 9.3x62 and 35 Whelen

NECG sells sight inserts for that rifle and they are cheap. That will regulate the irons to your load no problem. Not sure how Ruger is supposed to regulate that rifle to 100 different loads all at once.

Well I’m glad I didn’t spend $2500 on that rifle! Why on earth would they not have one or the sight ajustable elevation wise

adjustable sights maybe easy peasy, but that of course is just my own opinion. Or make the rear sight as blank that people can file down to there loads/ammo they gonna use. But for me it would need adjustable sights I shout all kind of loads in my rifles, I don’t have a unique load that I hope will do everything. But again just me!!

Anyone have the 9.3 and not happy with it? Like to hear feedback on the fit and finish, accuracy. On the wait list like everyone else. Checking Guns International as well.
Fit and finish were top notch, amazing looking gun and overall i was impressed aside from the obvious that I sent it back for. Ive read in another forum that a guy shot two boxes through his and the iron sights became accurate even when he started with them hitting 10" low at 50 yds. When I get mine back Ill put a few boxes through it.

Ron Spomer just posted a video on YouTube and he was having the same issue with his rifle shooting like 8" low.

Interesting that they put rifle with open sights on the market on the market w/o testing and or at least telling people what ammo they use to regulate the sights and at what distances! I still think adjustable rear sight is pretty simple and cheap to put on instead of fix everything and “hope people never use them cause we don’t know where they shoot… we put them on cause they look good…”

IMO there is nothing uglier, cheaper, or less reliable than factory adjustable rear sights.
Joseph VB was shooting a 35 Whelen at 25 yards on YouTube and it was dead nuts zero.

The same Joseph as the one with that channel? If it is the same Joseph, he was 3” low at 100yards, so I’m surprised it was dead on at 25. But it is possible!

Something doesn't sound right and just doesn't add up.

So I checked Hornady's ballistics calculator and used 9.3x62 286gr Interlock ammo, and top of sight is 1" above bore. If you are dead on at 25 yards you should be about 0.5" high at 100 yards, 1.5" low at 150 and 5.5" low at 200 yards.

The numbers I am seeing in this thread don't make sense unless something is REALLY haywire.

ETA - the manual says 50 yard zero - in that case it should be -0.3" at 25 and -0.7" at 100.

Absolutely. Are we zeroing irons on stopping rifles at 100 yards now? He shot the rifle at 25 yards at it was spot on. About at the distance you could expect to stop a charging animal.
You are absolutely right my bad!
That said I don’t carry a hunting rifle only to use it to stop charging games cause so far in 30years of hunting in grizzly country and the mighty Yukon Alaska moose I would have never fired a shot… but shot at 100-150 yards in hunting situations that I do quite often and if my sights are 5” low at those distances than it sucks big time! Ruger focked up that’s all!

But who could actually measure that? If I'm only a quarter inch low @25, less than the diameter of the bullet hole, I'm still going to say I'm "spot on". And 3/4" low at 100 with open sights? What sort of eyesight would you need to be able to hold that closely?

Oh I agree, my comment is directed at the 4" and 6" low at 20 or 25 yards. That makes no sense. Never mind the 10" low at 50 yard talk.

The point is there should be very little difference from 25 to about 150 yards. The factory manual says the sight is regulated for 50 yard zero, then it should be pretty close to dead on at 25 and 100 too. And with 35 Whelen and 9.3x62 there shouldn't be such a variation in factory ammo to make such a huge difference.
