Slightly Disappointed.

Purchased a ruger american ranch in 5.56 from Irunguns. Was really excited about this purchase given the current availability of these things.
When I ordered, I called in to specifically ask if irg could inspect the rifle before sending it out. As with most factory applied coatings/finished, they tend to not be done the best, so I asked if they could look over the rifle especially the cerakote before shipping it to me. I was told not to worry.

After I unboxed it, I saw a gouge in the barrel. Then I saw a discoloured finish on the muzzle brake with what appears to be another gouge. I know ruger's quality isn't particularly good but this is on another level.

Shipping also caused kind of a headache. I was told my order would ship on a Wednesday but nothing happened until Friday.

Disappointed on this year's Christmas gift.

Bought a budget brand rifle and not happy it isn't a Rolls Royce finished product? REALLY?

It's a field rifle, not a gold plated collectible.
I don't expect it to be anywhere comparable to a rolls royce in the gun world. Yes, i know its a mass produced gun and not a staccato.
If you buy a brand new toyota tacoma from the dealership, I reckon you will be a bit upset when it gets delivered with dents and paint defects.

Does it shoot straight? That chip at the muzzle looks questionable, the one on the barrel not so much. Yeah that sucks man, don't expect too much sympathy though as you've already seen what the replies are going to look like.

I bought one from IRG recently and it was perfect, sorry yours wasn't (shut happens). Still ended up selling it though, without taking a single shot. I worked the action a few times and realized I'd rather pay (a bit?) more for some Finnish Butter.

I agree with 20yearsOfTannerite that it sucks you got a gun with a few blemishes.
The 2 day lag in shipping time doesn't seem to crazy and it sounds like it arrived before Christmas so not sure how that caused issues or why the time line was so tight.

Try contacting IRG, I have had pretty good conversations with them over the years, maybe they can swap it out for a more pristine version..... there is a chance that your gun is a lazer beam and could out shoot a finer specimen.... but you will never know if you don't shoot it.

It's a budget gun... Should've bought one of those "over priced" ones at your local store if you are this picky about shipping times let alone minor blemishes.

In my opinion it doesn’t matter what the price is!! It should not be damaged being new no matter what the price. If it was sold at a discount and advertised as blemished, well that’s acceptable! So I’m guessing it’s ok that things are damaged when new as long as it’s not the best model available!! Interesting

I don't think guns are the right hobby for you.

Guns are tools, meant to get used.

Would you prefer an aesthetically perfect rifle that didn't shoot worth a dam?
Yes guns are tools but that doesn't mean new ones should come in this condition. My surplus sks has better quality control and finish on the components. I didn't buy that in person either... Bought that online and asked the store to choose a good one for me, and they came through. Yet when I ask if IRG could look over my order before sending it out, I get this.

Guns are tools doesn't mean I should accept it for what it is. I could go to the hardware store and a $15 dollar hammer will literally have better finish and quality control on it. It's a tool as well.

Just because its a tool and meant to get used, like many things in life doesn't mean it is acceptable for how it is.

As many have said it’s a budget rifle. Since we like comparing rifles to hammers why don’t you walk into a Canadian tire.. pick up a master craft hammer and pick up a estwing hammer and tell me which one has the better fit and finish. If you were upset about the finish on a model 70 Supergrade, or a mark V deluxe I would totally be in your corner. But dude it’s a ruger American. Your rifle quite possibly has the most fugly stock ever created and it’s cerecoated no blued. Not only was your rifle made to be a tool it’s like a power fist disposable tool.

Use the rifle and enjoy it. Some rifles are meant to not have to worry about and this is one of them. I agree with the majority here that you’re being a little ridiculous. And this CERTAINLY is NO FAULT of irunguns at all. If you want to be mad be mad at ruger and stop bashing a business over this.

so your point is all budget items should come with visible defects and we should just accept that as it because its a "budget"

My point is budget items are going to have issues with fit and finish and if you want to be THAT picky you should only be purchasing in person to go over the items with your own eyes.

I’m sure there are ruger Americans out there with a better fit and finish than yours. I’m sure there are rifles with worse. Ruger is not known for their fit and finish and never has been. Especially not in their budget line up.

IMO if the rifle shoots well you got a gem. If it doesn’t shoot well I would move it along in a hurry before they become more readily available.

Moral of the story is don’t expect premium quality out of a budget item, and certainly don’t point it at the guy that simply imported it for you.
