Trying to get a screw in Canada

I am looking for a screw that will work in an original Colt Model 1862 Police revolver.

Does anyone know if one from a Uberti replica would work?

The screw I am looking for is the one that goes from the bottom of the grip strap and into the bottom of the trigger guard.

Many outfits in the US won't ship a screw to Canada if it is for a firearm!

Any help appreciated.

Unless something has changed very recently, Numrich Gun Parts still ships gun parts that aren't specifically restricted for export to Canada. Their prices may be a bit higher than average for most things, but you'll likely find what you need on their site or by contacting them.

I think first you need to measure the diameter and thread pitch of the screw needed

I would suspect Uberti to me metric, as mooncoon said, determine the diameter and pitch and go from there.

Found an outfit in the US that sells reproductions of the original screws for antique Colt revolvers but will not ship to Canada?

Still looking.

Typed "Colt Model 1862 screw" I'm the search at Numrich. Came up

Numrich had one. Ordered one online today. Wait and see if it makes it to me in Canada.

Original Screws would be ideal, reproductions are the next best thing but if you have to import things can get ugly very quick.
Another route could be a local hobby Machinist which could make one up to original specs in no time.
