The Best Pictures From Hunting, Without the Kill

Been to some interesting old and new spots this year, lots of adventure and exploration. Sometimes the getting out and getting a picture of quiet moments is just the icing on the hunting cake. North Sask. is kind to me again this year, and it's not over yet!

I think this was Tuesday morning of the controlled deer hunt in southern Ontario. At times couldn't see much more than 50 metres. Sun came out mid morning and burnt it all off for an absolutely stunning day. Then the snow came on Wednesday and made walking almost impossible as we already had 40cm of snow.1000001043.jpg

A few pics I've snapped over the years when I found nice places or cool stuff.

Those downed trees are from that may 2022 big wind that blew through eastern ontario. Those were taken in a 30 acre or so chunk that was pretty much completely levelled. Went in trying to find a dog (who won't give up come hell or high water) that got on a deer who decided to b-line it straight out of the county. Took us just under 2 hours to cover 829 yards as the crow flies from the bikes to where the dog was supposed to be.... he wasn't there. Same amount of time getting back to the four wheelers. Old Max slept in the bush by a swamp that night and we went and got him the next morning.

Anybody else have some photos of and from hunting they'd like to share, that don't involve the post kill? I find my best hunting photos, those I share with everyone I'm personally friends with, generally rarely make it on here.

It's time they get some face time, and I'd love to see others. I'm a bit of a closet photography nut, with zero technical understanding or know how. I just love taking nice pictures, and I haven't managed to do that with a dead animal in a photo yet. OK, well the Baboon hand at the end is pretty fascinating; yea, we're related alright. :) Oh yes, and the giraffe and nine people (I'm outside for the photo) in a Landcruiser, also neat and not "traditional hunting photos".

Hopefully I'm justified in saying "Enjoy". Will have to drudge up more.
