New Ruger Generation II Patrol Rifles with 12.5 Inch Factory Barrel

12.5" barrel will cost you a lot of velocity, not sure what the advantage would be  the testing was done a few years ago out of boredom by our own unbiased CGN member todbartell :D

More or less turns a .308 into a 30-30 roughly.

I think it'd suit chamberings with a bit more bullet diameter to case volume; and be less velocity sensitive to a short barrel.

I can see the appeal of a handy, short rifle, as loud as they are. But not crazy about the problems the Americans seem to be plagued by and the cost cutting measures.

Now the 77 I can really get behind. And the compact Hawkeye with 16, or 16.5" is really a tiny little thing, too.

In Canada 🍁??? what's the chances of that happening
The first step to a better future is to see it in the minds eye and believe that anything is possible.

Things are changing quickly and urban "folk" are even starting to inquire about buying guns for self defence.... who saw that coming 10 years ago?

If protecting hearing and reducing noise pollution works for Swedes, Norwegians, French and Kiwi's.... it could surely work for Canadians as well!

New Zealand and France even mandate some suppressor use.... I would prefer free choice but can see where in some areas shooting quietly is more respectful to others.

Well one can always dream but don't hold your breath

Yes, one can also believe in a better path and learn new skills such as simple breath control on the journey.... :)

There are dark forces in play that want people breathless, afraid, divided and defeated.

Elon said recently that he's rather be optimistic and wrong, then pessimistic and right.

I won't argue with that logic

I am not arguing with the logic of it, however in my 72 years on this earth 55 of those as a gun owner I have yet to see ANY LIBERAL government do anything to even remotely favor legal gun owners.
I don't think that makes me a pessimist but rather a realist

You remind me of a good friend.... he's also a "realist", he's been kicked in the nutz by life so many times it's his default reality..... :(

I'm a few laps behind you but not so far that I can't relate... things look to be changing fast and the new tools are going to replace a lot of fat and entitled public paper pushers..... the type of people who actually run things behind this illusion of democracy we have.

I doubt we will even be voting the way we have been in 10 years... party politics will likely go the way of the dodo bird once a few countries start figuring out how to run countries more efficiently with machines.

If we get lucky with the tech and choose to focus on solving problems over consolidating power and control the whole world will be way better off.... fingers crossed!
