Actually 1972. First year were Belgium made then Japan produced them ever since. Never noticed the old thread date. Seems like you ever love them or don't. Certainly have sold a lot of them so someone likes them.

I saved up for it and smile whenever I see it, now waiting for the local gun show to see if I can find a shorter action blr in stainless, I hear it feels nicer...lol maybe sell my tikka 7mm-08 ....

Regarding recoil, it's a light rifle, in 30-06 it borders on hateful.

My cousin runs BLR in 30/06. Nice gun on the heavy side. Butt pad about same hardness as a hockey puck. I find recoil bad off the bench rest. Much rather shoot my 338 win mag personally. I think his would benefit from a Limbsaver pad.

KIlled my very first deer in 1977, with the Browning BLR, chambered in the 308 Winchester. It was made in Belgium.
