Browning BLR

Actually 1972. First year were Belgium made then Japan produced them ever since. Never noticed the old thread date. Seems like you ever love them or don't. Certainly have sold a lot of them so someone likes them.

Regarding recoil, it's a light rifle, in 30-06 it borders on hateful.
My cousin runs BLR in 30/06. Nice gun on the heavy side. Butt pad about same hardness as a hockey puck. I find recoil bad off the bench rest. Much rather shoot my 338 win mag personally. I think his would benefit from a Limbsaver pad.

Any one use a Browning BLR lever gun? Thoughts on it? I've never even picked one up, so I know little to nil here.
Mine is a Blued lightweight pistol grip in 30-06, made in Miroku. 4-round flush magazine. Some say the long action lever throw is a chore compared to the .308. I'm used to it. I love it. Handy and accurate. The OEM iron sights are too fine for my eyes. A mounting rail, Leupold QRW-2 and 2.5-10 Burris Fullfield E-3 illuminated added some (manageable) weight. The shiny gloss stock tends to show small dings white. I toned mine down and protected it with Renaissance wax. Just carried it a week for double duty WT and bumped black bears. Not too difficult to carry. It wears a limbsaver and low rise leather cheek rest.

I've heard they are superb lever guns. They come in a rugged field-ready finish, too. I know guys who hunt with them. They are ugly as sin. (The guns. Okay, some of the guys as well.) Their lines are like a child's mis-shaped rendition of a Marlin or Winchester. (Maybe they're a Picasso-design.) If aesthetics are not your concern, go for it.
