Vortex pro rings.... why??

Do you know how a pic rail is supposed to work?
yes the pro ones appear well made, but sadly they are built differently than every other ring in existance, including their own 'sporting'(china) rings I have from them. apparently, I could have piked any other ring in existance for my cz600... but I picked the vortex model that is not compatible.

Thanks for the data point… & sharing your experience. I for one will keep it in mind.
I am by no means a Vortex fanboy but I do own Vortex stuff. This is not a problem exclusive to Vortex, I have a set of Zeiss rings made in UK with an almost identical recoil lug setup.

Looks like allot of you are having a comprehension issue. Sorry I haven't explained whats going the best, and your not aware of what's happening.

Anything I have from weaver, leuopold, nightforce, cadet, Warren, and ect ect all don't have this issue. For example the vortex 'sporting' rings work on my cz, and here is an example of a rail it will absolutely not work on(10/22)

Sure the rings clamp up, but they will be canted to the fixed side, and not clamped squarely.

Yeah sure I picked the wrong ring... literally had no idea vortex would do something different than apparently every other manufacturer out there 🙄

If it is clamped securely and the alignment with the barrel is straight, if you level the scope correctly in the rings, there shouldn't be any ill effects once the scope is zeroed. As long as it is leveled and secure. Is it visible aesthetically ? or is it just because you "know" ?

Anyway I understand your frustration; we always want everything perfect. If it will bothers you and distract you just put other rings and sell them. BTW I can give you 35$ for them ;-)

From my understanding, there is actually a couple of engineering designs in what otherwise appears to be an identical approach across the industry to rings of this type.

One method essentially clamps the rings crosswise where the bulk of the clamping force is lateral.

Another method, "NATO-SPEC" (the better method as I understand it) is to use the force of the clamp to hold the ring downward on a flat topped rail.

To me it looks as though the integral rail on the CZ is designed for the former and couldn't really do the latter as effectively.

I have several integral rail firearms and none of them have a rail scalloped to the degree that your CZ seems to be. I have never understood the rationale for carving out part of the mounting surface on a rail.

That said, even if Vortex's rings are primarily designed to achieve the "Clamp down" attachment, it does look like a weird design choice.

I would be curious to hear their explanation.
 
Well that is so common now a day, companies that feel the need to make something different thinking it will fix a problem that doesn’t exist. Stupid on them.
 
Okay so I am 100% not getting across to everyone what's going on here. It's not a slot width cross bolt/recoil lug size issue, or a dimensional/ overall width issue.

If your rail looks like this(an atrs rail in picture) these rings from vortex won't work. There's nothing inherently wrong with the cz intergral rail... litteraly any other ring on the planet other than this odd ball vortex pro ring will work. Here is a picture of them next to some night force rings I have on hand for example. and again the picture of the part in question that is problematic circled.

Those rings will work just fine with the ATRS rail. Did you even bother to read my post?

If your rail looks like this(an atrs rail in picture) these rings from vortex won't work. There's nothing inherently wrong with the cz intergral rail... litteraly any other ring on the planet other than this odd ball vortex pro ring will work. Here is a picture of them next to some night force rings I have on hand for example. and again the picture of the part in question that is problematic circled.

Im so dumb for believing vortex statement of compatibility for both pic and weaver rails... what a scam company??

Far from a vortex fan I hate em, your ignorance is misguided.

These Zeiss rings suffer from the same affliction, news flash zeiss doesn’t make em.

Put a quality rail or base on your gun and stop whining, alternatively you can B I T C H about the 💩 “specs” of the rail idk. Either way it’s good for a laugh
 
At one time the rule of thumb was. Weaver rings only on Weaver mounts and Picatinny rings would work on both
It’s actually reverse! Weaver will fit on picatinny but picatinny will not fit on Weaver.

Seekins does make Vortex rings but only the PMR series. All other vortex rings are manufactured by different sources. The nice Zeiss rings pictured are made by Tier One in the UK.
 
To OP: Perhaps I am just dense, but I do not understand the cause of your problem. (I just ignore the advice and insults of those distracting from the thread) Could you perhaps remove the "clamp" part of the ring and get a clear pic of the ring sitting on your rail? I believe that there is some big misunderstanding here by most of us........

That does seem odd to me, that little area is milled deeper, and the only google image for vortex pro rings i can find - shows the bottom being level/flat side to side.
