Why do Blaser rifles cost so much? I've examined them, and they are well-made CNC-machined modern rifles often with nice walnut and they deserve to sell for a premium. But ten times (10X) what other very good quality CNC-machined rifles cost?

German goods demand a premium, I think, partially because of "brand" recognition. The brand, tho, being German, not a specific company. You're right, though they are nicely made, they certainly aren't 10x nicer than a savage or amything else. Folks with money to burn don't see the price as much as the desire to have the nice thing, I think.

Not expensive at-all, I've owned three of them. If you look at-it-this-way, they are very inexpensive, than English fine rifles. The last Blaser I owned, I traded it for a Cooper Custom Classic. I killed a 7x6 bull elk with the Blaser. Time to move-on to purchase or trade for something else.

It’s not a ā€œvalueā€ issue. Nobody likely ever bought a Blaser, H&H double rifle (or a Cooper Custom Classic) because they were particularly a great value. They are beautifully made and almost transcendent into works of art.

People buy them because they can.
…and some might call it a status symbol.

A Kia SUV gets you from A To B. Some folks (who have the money or want the status) would rather drive that distance in a Ferrari Purosangue.

Each to their own.

Maybe 1000x šŸ˜‚, having said that they may or may not be more accurate but there is no question about the Quality.
I think accuracy has very little to do with fine rifles. Many utilitarian or standard rifles will probably shoot as accurate or more accurate than a Rigby, Holland & Holland, William Evens, etc. My Blasers did not shoot any more accurate than standard rifle that I owned.
Custom built rifles?.............. Right-off the lathe they are bloody accurate!

Agreed šŸ‘šŸ¼

Many of us have a dozen rifles in the safe that do the same thing as the next even if of lower to mid grade with optics and additional mags that adds up. Sure its easier to get a cheaper rifle every year or 2 but if one wanted you could have 1 or 2 very nice rifles instead of that dozen for the same expense
Comes down to what you truly want. A nice well built rifle from a big named company or a bunch of rifles to play with

Blaser guys are OK leaving the boat anchor in camp and using the Guides cheap Savage. LOL Watching a Blaser bouncing and sliding down a scree slope makes even rich guys cry.

Well if we compare rifle prices, blaser are really middle of the road price wise, there is a lot of rifle a lot more expensive than a blaser R8! One thing for sure is the versatility of the R8 system and the availability of the parts(spare barrels), lots of other manufacturers claim that switch barrel ability but you can’t get barrels lol, with blaser it is ā€œeasyā€.
You get what you pay for. I’ve never owned one but I would love too, if I had to own only one rifle it would be an R8 with 3 barrels, 223, some sort of 7mm and probably 9.3x62, 3 optics and off I go do all I need to do!!
Hmmm maybe that’s what I should do! Sell everything and buy just that!

Ok, I'm going to say it, as I have been thinking it for years...

The Savage accuracy claims, have been dramatically inflated by people who are justifying cheaping out on their rifle.

Flame away
Never mind the rest of the gun being absolute garbage. The initial cost of a firearm is the cheapest thing,

Zero reason to purchase any savage products.

While savages are ugly and bendable ive never owned one that wouldnt shoot better than I can. Let's face it. Majority of the hunting population wants a cheap reliable American name brand rifle for their one week a year hunting season. If you're a member of this site you're likely not part of that group.

I still have a few savage rimfires but their centerfire lines ha e risen drastically in price to align with mid tier rifles that Savage is no longer a value budget option

I have two rem 783 that beat savage in every respect

I have a couple of Blasers and they are certainly not as cheap...or as inexpensive, which is an entirely different thing...as a Savage. I must question if they are really 10x as expensive. One of mine is a basic synthetic stock, the other one a fairly basic grade of walnut.

Sure, you will see many Blasers that sell for that much and more, but you have to compare apples to apples. Blaser offers something like ten different grades of walnut, ranging from decent straight-grain all the way to eye-popping 3D-map-of-the-galaxy stuff. How many grades of plastic does Savage offer? Same for the metalwork; how ornate (if that's your thing...) is the top-of-the-line Savage? Eye candy is always more expensive.

Can you take apart a Savage...removing barrel from action and scope from barrel...pack the three main sections in a compact case, re-assemble it when you get off a plane in Alaska or Botswana, and expect the first shot to show no discernible POI shift? I know that I can do that with my Blasers...not because of marketing claims, but because I've done it many times.

Can you switch barrels on your Savage? No, I don't mean by using a vice and a barrel wrench and cranking off the barrel nut and reversing the whole thing...I mean by using only an Allen key and doing the whole job in maybe two minutes? And if the replacement barrel is chambered for a cartridge that has a different case head size, just swap out the bolt face for the correct size in another two minutes.

I was attracted by the Teutonic mystique...but that was attractive to me because I had never been disappointed by any German rifle I had owned before. The straight-pull action drew me in...but now, after owning them for over 15 years, that is likely the least important aspect of them to me. Yes, Savages and Tikkas tend to be accurate as a general rule...but Blaser accuracy has always been on another level for me, with every single Blaser barrel I own or have owned. And that ultimate accuracy isn't something that really improves my hunting success, but it inspires the kind of confidence that is absolutely essential to shoot one's best.

I have also owned a bunch of Savages, still have a couple. I like them for what they are...inexpensive, basic tools that tend to shoot well, and I will never badmouth them like so many others do. They are truck guns, beaters, loaners, tinker-toys and experimental subjects...all of which are worthwhile roles to fill. They come and go, but they will never inspire that little thrill that accompanies handling a nice gun like a Blaser.

The folks who can't understand that...well, I envy them. Shooting a Savage with complete satisfaction and seeing no discernible benefit of something like a Blaser must make life simpler and less costly to get through.

OP, you have a bunch of nice older guns, posted many times in many different places. I don't see you shooting Savages, or comparing classic old Mausers to them, or facing them off against Tikkas in accuracy competitions. You are the sort of person who should "get" what I am talking about.

Had a savage rep at a CRPS shoot a couple years ago and all day the poor f ucker did nothing but add extra extractor springs and change parts until he ran out. What a joke. Buddy of mine finished second in eastern Canada production class with a Savage and asked me to sight in and mount a new scope for him. On the fourth shot the end of the bolt popped off and the spring and whatever went flying!! What an absolute pile of SH IT!! I own no Savage guns and never will!
