Confirmed.. T3 Battue coming my way

looks amazing Dorian Gray -- thats a specialised masi mount i think, looks like great clearance.
im thinking for my intended combo, ill need to remove the rib /sight for starters- leave the front on for now also but see if can get enough clearance without the Rib !

So I handled the Gun in-person today at the LGS.
I'm liking it! An I'm excited, but don't know who to tell,...my missus won't get me, Only a Gun Nut would.

It has come with a 5 Shot (Long action) Magazine.....

You beauty.

I don't like it how it sits down below where I would normally palm in a Carry scenerio...but I'll either get used to it- or pending eventually strike out on a 3 shot but the prices are not friendly to have spare or back up.

Means I can run the 308 projies out without any Mag length issues!

Might be good for those 180grainers stoked up with Varget.

Looks like about a Week or two will have the Permit to Acquire---

It is a little crazy times down under regarding guns an ownership caps but I put this one in my Partners License 😎😎😎

Cheers Nutterz!!

If it came with a la mag, it might already have a modded bolt stop.
its new in box , a couple years ago now he owned a shop, an if you bougght 4 or 5 guns from the wholesaler, they would throw in a freebie for the business , he said!
So he has a bunch of unfired, older T3s- it is something i will pull apart when i get it home an check but am prepared to file down the Bolt stop.

id say its just been chopped and changed, shelved without a magazine an a pile of magazine from the magazine drawer etc etc.
hes closed up shop due to the Big C a few years ago, finally just getting around to selling off some inventory.

:)

be great if this was the case but i dont see it being so

Alright!
so ive got my Battue home!!
i picked it up whilst i was at work today on my delivery run :p

ive filed back the Bolt stop. We are picking up .308 rounds from the Large magazine. winning!!!!!

im about to sabotage it and rip the Sights off! :)

lets gooo!

2.8kg bare- open sites, 5shot mag empty an no sling hooks.

So we are talking, Modded pic rail (cut down)..... Removed rear Sight Rib..
low rifleman mounts, around that burris prevail 3-9x40
ive modded the bolt stop to pick up rounds and not fall out also** ummm
ive butchered me Battue already. an im pretty happy.
will swap out for a 3 shotter down the track too i rekon. no need for 5 an carrys better flush.

What did you have to do to the bolt stop?

What did you have to do to the bolt stop?
They file them back to allow the bolt a longer throw back, i soon witnessed why,..
With a long ler magazine, the bullets are further back than the bolt goes- it doesn't pick them up!

My bolt stop wasn't ideal one piece metal- it was sectioned, hollowed out, so I had to be careful , trial an error with how much , so as the bolt doesn't wiggle and slide out on the throw back etc...

You can buy Modded Bolt stop Kits too BTW $ for what it is

I'm familiar with Tikkas and the bolt stops. I didn't realize you had a long action mag for your .308 Win. Might be better off buying a long action bolt stop if the homemade job is sketchy.

I intentionally kept away from tikka's for years. I am a Kimber guy so everything else was heavy crap. Tikka guys were like vegans, you always knew who they were because they were always talking about tikka's..... then one day a lonely tikka t3x 270 win fell in my lap. Kind of a homely little bugger. I made the mistake of shooting it..... Wow, I'll never be a vegan, but yeah I'm a tikka guy now too.....
If you didn’t know - in Finnish, Tikka means woodpecker. The reason they called the rifle this is because like a woodpecker it drills one hole.lol.

kind of interesting to go out of your way to get a battue then take the sights off. Why not get a regular old t3x lite they basically grow on trees.
I love those sights, not something I would have done either. Great brush-gun.

Here's the run down.

A Tikka is costing $1800-2000+ these days new.
I came across this 20 inch barrel Tikka T3 for a Grand.
Already had a 20 inch barrel , so saved about $300 on cutting a barrel an freight etc.

I took the sites straight off as I I tend to hunt with Scope as a bush gun , esp with nice short barrel.

Alot of secondhand T3 s are up in Prices and actually fairly rare to see them come up for sale for a reasonable price.
All would of had a 22 inch barrel.

This certainly doesn't seem to be a Woodpecker!

Struggling to get Groups happening this far in testing.

Had to lighten the trigger a bit , was but too heavy. Much better now.

Try some more groups tomorrow an see where it's at.
