I would like to hear from other Gunnutz folks who have had, or have some experience with the venerable 350 Remington Magnum.....
Like a fool I sold my last 350 Remington Magnum rifle in a Remington Model 660, laminate, 20" barrel, dog-leg bolt etc. in 2007. I also sold my Remington 673 in 350 Remington Magnum around the same time. Was buying my own house after being divorced and needed the money.
I'm now trying to replace those guns over time. I was lucky enough to find a 61 year old Remington Model 600 in 350 Remington Magnum last week. The laminate stock was cracked, but the vented rib is intact, and it appears to have fired less than 40 rounds. The bottom plastic trigger guard does not have that sway-back bulge either. It came with Redfield bases & rings, along with a vintage 2.5 power Redfield scope (German Post Reticle), and one box of ammo containing 17 rounds and three fired brass.
I've repaired the crack, stripped off the old finish, and prepped it for a refinish. I applied the first coat of Tru-Oil today, it's going to look new again.....
I used to reload for the 350 Magnum, back in those days I believe I used a 200 grain Hornady Interlock bullet. They worked well.
However with all the new technology in bullet choice, I was thinking the 200 grain Barnes TTSX bullet. I have not found reloading data as of yet, and was hoping to hear from some of you guys that are currently reloading the 350. If I remember correctly, Gatehouse, hoytcanon, Jeff/1911, and dan belisle, all loaded the 350 Remington Magnum at one time.
I have a Speer, Nosler, Hornady, and Barnes reloading manual. The Barnes manual is over 20 some years old. I see the Hornady 200 grain FTX bullet would work, and I see the Nosler Partition would work. But I wanted something with a pointed polymer tip like the Accubond or Barnes TTSX. What are you guys using these days?
My box magazine will only allow a COL of 2.825". I saw the Nosler Accubond will not work due to the sharp ogive and the COL will not fit in these Remington Model 600/660 box magazines.
Can we start a 350 Remington Magnum conversation for all to enjoy please?.....
Thanks to all who participate!.....
