Plastic 10/22 (pix added)

Whats wrong with plastic ? My AR180B has a plastic lower receiver . The receiver cracked twice when I bought it new . was replaced under warranty twice but it hasn't cracked since . But I don't dare shoot it . Just hangs on the wall now .

So now 10/22s will be made just as cheaply as the 597s... but still cost more.

That's my main concern.
And to the above poster saying people should buy the VQ trigger group...most people won't see the value, just as I don't. You buy the rifle new for $250, add some parts at maybe $100-150 each and that gives you a substantial performance gain. The trigger can be made into butter for less than $65 on parts.

The VQ trigger is...extremely expensive to put it nicely.

From what people are talking in some US forums,
Brownell's was still listing the aluminum alloy housing for about $16
but they were backorderd badly.
Hornet was still selling its slightly modified
factory TG (about $100).

If these new plastic patrs are of good quality there shouldn't be any problems with them. I have a Mossberg 590 with a plastic triger guard and i had no problems with it in over 2 years and a few thausand rounds through it.

funnily enough the Mossberg 590 - 590A1 situation is the exact opposite of what we have here.

the Mossberg passed military trials but they stipulated that the safety and triggerguard/housing must be upgraded to aluminum from the original plastic, hence the 590A1.

Hmmm...I don't really see any problem with plastic for rimfire, should be just as good as metal. We all forced to accept something we don't like everyday, no big deal.
