The BEST Straight-Pull Rifle in Canada - Maple Ridge Armoury

So if I were to buy a stripped colt canada c8 parts kit, would all the parts fit the reciever set? Like the barrel, bolt, trigger mech exc? And like the guy above me said, how would you plug the gas port?

A Renegade kit comes with a collar you slip over the gas port, it is secured with a set screw. I've got a couple hundred rounds through a Maverick in 6.5 and never had a gas problem. Everything else you will transfer over except the bolt carrier, and one of the takedown pins IIRC.

Check this thread, there is a healthy discourse on the merits of building your own renegade/maverick, including all the various gas port options.

Would you be able to share a pic of this collar? I don't think mine came with one, unless I'm not seeing it at all.

Hey Victory Ridge
Sorry if I missed this and has already been discussed, what's the recommended method to block the gas port in the ducted barrels?

Thank you
There are a couple options:

If you already have a low-profile gas block you can simply unbolt it and flip it 180 degrees and re-mount it so that the holes don't line up. Your gas port on the barrel will then be blocked.

If you have a M4 style front-sight gas block then the original gas tube can be removed, cut short, and replaced upside down and pinned back in place. It's a very simple job; takes about 5 minutes.

If you have neither there are some gas-port seals available. They come in different diameters based on the diameter of the barrel at that spot where it is ported. We have limited stock of these currently, but will be restocking on all sizes eventually.

There are some similar parts available from Princess Auto called a "shaft collar" that some customers have used that do the same function.
