No one actually finds folding stock necessary and most have eliminated them. Look at all the NATO militaries that had gone with M16FOW. Not even the chinese put a folding stock on their new CBZ191.

Folding stocks areonly found on big long range rigs that go onto backpacks and small tiny things that go inside backpacks.

I find that Telescoping, multi-position Buttstocks, with or without an AR-pattern Receiver Extension (Buffer Tube), are superior to side-folding, fixed-length Buttstocks such as those found on the Mikasi, the Galil, FAL Para, FNC, SIG 550, Daewoo K200, etc, etc. The key advantage of the Telescoping Stock being that it offers adjustable Length of Pull to suit various different circumstances (body amour on, no armour worn, etc). Stocks that both fold and telescope such as those found on the SIG MCX and SPEAR series of rifles would seem to offer the best of both worlds, but can suffer from excess complexity with multiple, different buttons/switches.

Here is one example of a multi-position, Telescoping Buttstock that has no need to fold to the side, as it collapses to an extremely compact form. It It is a custom Buttstock manufactured by Neoteric Designs for the CZ Bren 2 rifle:

Yes it's an artist's rendition of the NR 18.6 barrel with the 12" handguard. I added the reptilia CQG grip with trimmed beavertail, magpul SL stock, Sig MCX stock adapter, A2 birdcage, and aimpoint compm5 on scalarworks mount.

I'm a big fan of LAW Tactical folders on anything that uses a buffer tube. No real downside (other than money, haha) and obviously solid and has been fielded for years (at least on later M110s, I believe).
 
I've never seen an Ejection Port Cover malfunction in any manner whatsoever. That includes over 20 years of service with the Diemaco/Colt Canada family of small arms as well as experience with my personally owned AR-style firearms. As it pertains to the Mikasi, even if the spring were to fail I am willing to bet that ejection is sufficiently forceful to push the Ejection Port Door out of the way as each empty casing is ejected. In other words, no big deal, regardless of whether or not the spring fails.
