Varget vs n140

I've switch from varget to N150, it's close than N140 to varget I think.
308 and 6BR loads are within +-0.2gr from my varget load for the same Velocity.
But, for 223 loads, I think N150 is not optimal.

This is what I’ve heard from others. N140 for heavy 223 rem bullets and n150 for heavy 308s. And n150 is working well on the br as well.
 
The new N150 and n140 ( copper erasing agent) gives me a 200 fps more in my 308, 6.5x47 and 6br, using my old load, my old n140 is almost identical to the Varget.,
 
I picked up a bunch of N140 to replace my almost gone stash of 8208 (Ive got through 32lbs of that).

First impressions are good but I have found that it wont generate the same velocities as 8208 (not super surprising as 8208 is higher in the burn chart).

I have even went to compressed loads which I generally avoid and it was *just* making the same velocities as my 8208 load without compressing. I settled a load 0.6gr less (not compressed) as it shoots consistently well but I am giving away 50fps or so.

It kinda makes me wonder if I would have been better with N135 but I know from watching Ultimate Reloader that he very successfully reverse engineered an N140 / Berger factory load with amazing results that N140 is a solid choice.

Hands down the best load I have found in this rifle has been D8208 (have 10lbs or so of that), seems to shoot phenomenal with 75gr or 77gr bullets. It has been said that D8208 is hotter and loads should be reduced, this is indeed what I found, I had to reduce around 10%, I wouldn't want to try the same load as I had for regular 8208 or it may result in a bad day.

Haven't tried N140 in the 6BR yet as I still have a bunch of Varget and it has been excellent but at some point I will give it a whirl.

I switched from IMR-4831 to Varget in my 30-06. I'm going to try N-160 in my 240 Weatherby, along with H-4831SC, replaced it with Reloder #26.

Try N150 series 2023 and up, might surprise you, 29.7 for me,

The burn rate charts say otherwise, and I checked the speed of both to verify this from the same barrel on my T3X, chambered for 223, with 77 grn Sierra MK bullets, using my Garmin.

N140 was slightly faster burning and produced about 40fps more velocity over a ten shot average than the same load with Varget.

There wasn't any noticeable difference in bolt lift or primer shape after firing, so likely a slightly different pressure curve?

Lots between both powders seem pretty consistent, but my lots are all pre covid.
