Beretta 688

A good portion of my local skeet group could be mistaken for being sponsored by beretta with all the beretta guns and gear we own lol
If beretta sold nice jeans boxers socks and boots my entire clothing collection would come from stoeger

As FF said Beretta has had its issues and I have seen that firsthand but also had a 680 that was a damn nice piece and ground many thousands of targets. That being said I wonder what the reviews would be if CZ was the sponsor??
In my opinion the Beretta S.680 Trap Unisingle is still a good looking gun and performs awesome. I could be a little bias since I have one. Broke my first 25 straight with it. It’s my forever gun. Like it so much I just bought another one with the 30” o/u vented barrels so I can shoot some doubles with.

A good one for you BB qne of our skeet groups bought 5 Perazzis at once ,they look like the Italian national team with all there swag:)

I shot brybenn's 688 yesterday. What a piece of junk...I missed station 4 high house. lol
Fit and finish is excellent. I like the laminated stock. Weight wise it balaced well between my hands even with the 30 inch barrels but the recoil seemed more abrupt compared to my 690 Field III with 28 inch barrels. It pointed very well and brybenn told me that he didn't make any adjustment to the cheek piece, so it is right out of the box.
I am thinking that just one round of skeet with that 688 is going to cost me about 5K.

You missed that target cuz you didnt pay for the extra coaching

Funny I thought your 690 kicked alot more

I shot 2 perfect rounds with the 688 yesterday so its not the gun lol

Good timing on this subject.

I am headed to look at guns this week and the 688 will be one for sure. Right now it is the O/U I most want to see.

688 feels like a lot of bang for the buck.

The laminate stock is somewhat love it or hate it but I have watched a bunch of reviews and every one mentions the benefits of laminate (more dense, easier to refinish should you need to, better water resistance, less likely to crack / fail etc) but if you dont like the look I get it.

The reviewers all seemed to really like the gun and feel like it is punching above its weight for the price point.

I handled the 688 with the adjustable comb today and it felt great but as I know zero about O/Us and this is literally the first one I have handled I would put as much value in that as what you paid for it. It was the 30" version and it felt more compact and lighter than I expected (would like to try the 32" version).

I did handle another Browning (not even sure what model). Both were in Cabelas (Bass Pro - whatever it is called these days) and I simply took a quick look as I didn't expect them to be there.

Hard to be sure as I run an A400 and VM so are very used to how they fit me but the LOP on both felt a little short.

The stock on the 688 looks different in the flesh, much darker and more bland than in the pictures. With these I am probably an outlier though as I prefer function over form every time.

Going to stop in a bigger shop tomorrow and have a look at a bunch and get a better feel for each.
