Noticed on EE a flood of SKS last weeks.

in the mid 90's when i was doing gun shows i would have a deal if you bought a case of ammo 1440 rounds 7.6x39 i would give you a free sks my wholesale on them at the time was 29.00$
they were retailing for 79.95 - 99.95
actually 95% of the firearm market is in the tank
The new phrase on EE is Price Drop or reduced
for that matter EE is not a good evaluation of the firearm market in canada at the best of times

Yes money is short all around.
For some people it is, but folks are still buying.

A lot of people bought several SKS rifles when they first started coming into the country. They're getting long in the tooth, and are selling them now.

This sort of thing seems to go in waves, which eventually reside, often about the same time surplus ammunition becomes more expensive or no longer available.

When I first started shooting SKS rifles, a case of ammo, corrosive but in brass cases, and on charger strips, ran around $45-$50 for 1150 rounds, in wooden crates.

If you purchased a pallet with 100 crates, the price was around $25/crate, taxes and shipping included.

7.62x39 is now quite expensive, for those of us who still remember.

The last SKS rifles I purchased came out of, I believe SFRC? for $169, including a case of ammo. They were brand new Chinese, factory number marked, stocked in Chu wood, with four sided bayonets, with some sort of silver powder coating.

I bought several, kept the ammo and sold the rifles a few years later.

Depending on where you live in Canada, jobs are getting difficult to find, and when jobs disappear, people unload the easiest things they consider to be surplus.

At the last gunshow in Kamloops, I noticed several SKS rifles on tables, and checked a few out.

These days, you need to be very careful when purchasing an SKS. Many of them have up to 20K rounds through them and need a complete FTR.

I also noticed that between CGN and other Gun classified sites literally nothing has been selling in the last few months unless its an absolute firesale or 50% off retail

Noone is buying anything it seems

Same items I sold last year, wont even sell for 25% off last year's princes

I mean no one is even trying to low ball me either

Strange times
Well the economy isn't doing so hot with the "technical recession" that we are in. Dropping $500 on an SKS might not be in the cards for a lot of folks these days who are juggling bills and worried about their mortgage rates going up.

ppl barely have money for food. elbows up
Finding a proper job is also harder than it was just two years ago. A friend of mine works for the welfare. He sees more and more able bodied and willing to work individuals who can't find a job anywhere, forced to apply for welfare. Charities and food banks can"t keep up with the demand. So yeah, not surprised to see people offloading any surplus they have.

Any able bodied person on welfare is a loser. There's work everywhere that requires little to no education. A lot of these types want to live off the system and the backs of others.

This is called a recession.

I’d wonder to wager if maybe the mania around them finally just sobered up is all. $800 for an SKS is still stupid even given its status and the economy today. The supply is just always there, people panic bought for hysteria and between flippers out to profit and emotional purchasers the high is probably over and it’s probably less a flood of rifles in the EE as much as a stagnation of rifles selling on the EE.

This slow down in sales of premium products is something I pointed out to a seller on the ee when explaining my offer to buy which a little less then asking but 2x plus the original retail price of this no longer made 22. He offered it to me $200 more than my offer which I said thanks but no thanks. Sellers have their miss set on values for their items which don’t match current times. Similar to homeowners thinking everything is worth $1,000,000 and up for an average family home.

Also buying used is often a risk. I gambled on a used remington 1100 because it was under 400. It ran well for a while, now it's been in the shop for 6 months because spare parts are not being made anymore. At least when you buy a new gun you get some warranty and peace of mind that spare parts will likely be available for some years.

Any special reason for flooding EE with a lot of SKS in the last weeks?
We have reached third world status, What is coming down the pike real soon will make the great depression look like prosperous times.

The liberals wanting to ban them made them more desirable than they should to a lot of people.

All the ranges in my area prohibit surplus ammo and dynamic shooting. Crown land shooting would require at least a day of travelling and likely a 4x4/dirtbike I do not possess. So the appeal of the 2-6 moa rifle that you can't easily put a scope on is limited.

Also while I am here making friends I'll just add that the Valmet is an underwhelming rifle that commands the prices it does only because it is legally an AK. Save your money, go to vegas and try an actual AK.

^ Your syntax isn't clear, but IMO the limited supply of the SKS of all varieties and the desire of 'new shooters' to own one, has caused the price to rise. The unrest in many parts of the world has also taken some of the supply of x39 firearms away from N-america markets since the SKS/AK is still a viable low-cost rifle.

Sorry for my syntax, its uneducated immigrant grammar. I see that all dealers are selling SKS for 1000$ tax included....and sometimes ,they post....sold out! (Tenda) .....and people here are complaining about 600$....super expensive SKS....

If a company will start manufacturing today SKS in Canada or USA did someone figure the price?

Not necessarily.

There seems to be lots of work around medium sized and larger population areas, but in lesser populated areas, not so much.

It's very easy to say, "pick up and move to where the work is," but not always feasible. Especially if the individual was already working "basic" service jobs, and money was already tight.

I remember when the "oil sands" first started booming, and a flood of out of work people, especially the Maritimes, headed for northern Alberta.

Many hadn't done their homework and thought that anywhere Alberta was booming, big mistake.

There seems to be lots of part time work around, but if you're looking for a "full time" steady job?????????

I've got a carpenter, with his crew doing an interior renovation on my house right now. No trouble getting people with tickets or provincial TQs, but unqualified laborers are few and far between. Mostly because they're only hired for the immediate job, unless there are several pending jobs for the contractor.
