so far , the tools i have made or substituted for the m1a tools are
casltnut pliers - large C clamp type vice grips... kind without the swivel pads on the tips. can tire under 20.00 , use dremmel tool cutting heavy discs to cut and shape tips to fit castlenut slots. provides excellent leverage. I've owned real m1a castlenut pliers from fulton...... sold em and use the homemade ones.
wood stock metal liner screw tool.... 5/8 aluminum round stock, 3 inches long. drilled 3/16 hole through side, hole centered 1/2 inch from one end.
drill two holes in opposite end in the tip that are the same dimension as the stock liner screw holes for size and distance apart, drill these two holes 1 inch deep. using 3/16 drill rod, cut 2 pieces 1 1/4 inch long. Using 5 minute epoxy very sparingly apply to the holes and insert drill rods. trim with dremel to length desired once epoxy has set. when using the tool, simply slip an appropriate sized allen key or similar item through the top 3/16 hole to use as leverage.
for gas lock I use a soft cloth and a pair of "channel lock" pliers
hmm... there's a couple other items..... i'll see if i can find em.... and work on some pics of all this later
