Curious if anyone who goes out to EESA has Castle Nut Pliers that I might be able to use for a moment to tighten up my flash hider ..

Thanks in advance!

I made a great set using a vice grip and a grinder, it took me about a half hour.

I also made my own gas lock wrench from an old tie rod tool, that took me about 15 minutes with my dremel.

A small brass punch and hammer will do the same thing. The wrench is slick and one-handed, but tap tap tap works just as well. As long as you remember to index a slot for the set screw, you're all set.

I've seen pictures of ones homemade with a pair of slip joint pliers with opposing holes and some small diameter pins driven in. Same principle as the castle nut pliers without the expen$e.

Castle Nut

I found a strange lookin set of snap ring pliers which work almost perfect for $2.99 at princess auto...

so far , the tools i have made or substituted for the m1a tools are

casltnut pliers - large C clamp type vice grips... kind without the swivel pads on the tips. can tire under 20.00 , use dremmel tool cutting heavy discs to cut and shape tips to fit castlenut slots. provides excellent leverage. I've owned real m1a castlenut pliers from fulton...... sold em and use the homemade ones.

wood stock metal liner screw tool.... 5/8 aluminum round stock, 3 inches long. drilled 3/16 hole through side, hole centered 1/2 inch from one end.
drill two holes in opposite end in the tip that are the same dimension as the stock liner screw holes for size and distance apart, drill these two holes 1 inch deep. using 3/16 drill rod, cut 2 pieces 1 1/4 inch long. Using 5 minute epoxy very sparingly apply to the holes and insert drill rods. trim with dremel to length desired once epoxy has set. when using the tool, simply slip an appropriate sized allen key or similar item through the top 3/16 hole to use as leverage.

for gas lock I use a soft cloth and a pair of "channel lock" pliers

hmm... there's a couple other items..... i'll see if i can find em.... and work on some pics of all this later :D
