I have a usual one here that I would appreciate input on because I’m stumped trying to value it.
Fair warning: someone carried out questionable modifications to this beautiful gun.
1986 Browning Citori Grade VI, ported bottom barrel, invector chokes, medium rib. Lovely gun with very little apparent use. Engravings are mint, blueing is near mint, high gloss wood finish has some minor scratch lines consistent with light use but nothing major. Comes with the factory browning case but this case is a bit shabby, rated fair-good. Two additional browning barrels that don’t appear to be a factory set but look to have been acquired for the gun (ported double barrels, potentially skeet length and a single barrel trap length).
The issue lies in the modifications the former owner made to the stock. Bizarrely, the factory comb is gone, and an unsightly, poor fitting comb has been fitted in its place with a piece of vinyl or neoprene glued on top which has started to peel. An adjustable buttstock has also been added that doesn’t look great. It also can be pulled freely from the stock but I haven’t looked into how this it attached- it may just need to be tightened.
I’m aware that condition is everything with these exhibition grade guns. In the uncommon scenario that someone carries out poorly done modifications such as these, how do I arrive at a price? Thanks in advance for all input.
