I have a usual one here that I would appreciate input on because I’m stumped trying to value it.

Fair warning: someone carried out questionable modifications to this beautiful gun.

1986 Browning Citori Grade VI, ported bottom barrel, invector chokes, medium rib. Lovely gun with very little apparent use. Engravings are mint, blueing is near mint, high gloss wood finish has some minor scratch lines consistent with light use but nothing major. Comes with the factory browning case but this case is a bit shabby, rated fair-good. Two additional browning barrels that don’t appear to be a factory set but look to have been acquired for the gun (ported double barrels, potentially skeet length and a single barrel trap length).

The issue lies in the modifications the former owner made to the stock. Bizarrely, the factory comb is gone, and an unsightly, poor fitting comb has been fitted in its place with a piece of vinyl or neoprene glued on top which has started to peel. An adjustable buttstock has also been added that doesn’t look great. It also can be pulled freely from the stock but I haven’t looked into how this it attached- it may just need to be tightened.

I’m aware that condition is everything with these exhibition grade guns. In the uncommon scenario that someone carries out poorly done modifications such as these, how do I arrive at a price? Thanks in advance for all input.

I wish I could recall the brand of recoil suppression system - adjustable butt & pad that has been mounted on there but it eludes me?
The comb is an added on soft comb that has started to peel. Soft combs are made by taking the wood piece removed from the stock in the adjustable comb modification process and removing and reshaping the wood comb to glue on a piece of leather covered neoprene or high density foam to provide a little softer comb to rest your cheek on. Today a soft comb mod will run you about $350 but in used resale get you $0 return added to your gun.
Those mods were well done but they are both very dated. There is much better recoil supression systems available today. Someone decided along the way to upgrade their Grade 6 Citori. Unfortunately doing so, though making a gun from a shooting standpoint a bit more adjustable it has taken away all of the collectible factor and left you with a nice looking older Citori target gun. Dont want to hurt your feelings but based on what I see due to the mods that gun is worth half of what an unmolested original would fetch and the extra barrel sets will add a bit of value but not what a true factory combo set would add. I'd say $3000-$3500 would be top dollar in todays market

Its a Gracoil made by Graco. To provide recoil reduction. They are not cheap. 250 to 350 USD plus Install if owner didn't do it himself.
If that is a Graco unit it is a very old model. Never seen a Graco that I have ever owned out of several of my guns that had them both factory installed and after market installed that have a pad that covers the opening between the two plates. Looks more like the old counter-coil brand unit to me.

this gun has very little value as far as grade every thing done to it distracts from price the porting is not factory
2500-2800$
maybe
the alterations also do not help the purchaser because it's set up for the owner of the gun
