Remington 700 bolt lock???

I maybe trading for a remington 700 sps and the bolt doesn't lock when safety is on. What are options to switch this so it locks when the safety is on

The bolt body would require a mill cut for the safety lever.
The receiver may need to be milled for safety lever clearance.

A 3 position swing safety installation will require machine work to fit/function correctly.
 
From a legal concern Remington dropped the locking bolt safety years ago and recalled all models that had a locking bolt safety.

Lawsuits argued that it is unsafe to have to disengage the safety to remove a loaded round from the chamber... Remington agreed.
 
I had a ruger american which does not have a bolt lock safety. I left my truck and loaded up and walked around hunting for about 2 hours, when I got back to my truck the bolt was open and the round ejected. I have idea how long I was walking around like that, with an unloaded rifle. Bolt handle must have hooked something to open
 
If you have a M700 ADL with a bolt lock safety and blind magazine, then it's a real pain in the ass.

I have M700's with both style safeties and I much prefer the modified safety without the bolt lock.

I have never liked the 2 position bolt lock safety of the older M700's.

Your story is exactly why I like the old bolt lock function.

With the exploding costs of ammunition these days, one doesn't want to loose any unfired rounds. Let alone the fired brass..........:LOL:

And premium hand loads are also precious. Leaving them on the ground in the bush, sucks big time. My bolt guns without the lock function seem to catch up on brush, branches, etc, and flick out perfectly good ammunition. Especially goat hunting.......:(

The ones that do not like it should take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course again and learn about muzzle control and safety.....:oops:

This has never been about what you may like or not like.
Not about how you personally feel about locking bolts or how you carry your rifle.
It was entirely a decision made by Remington's lawyers and Remington.
