6x47 remington 85gr BTSP data?

Some projies arrived...
100gr BTSP is taking up alot of Case space.
I'm maybe even going to pull the few I loaded.
Loaded at 24grains and seated to Cannelure..... Compressed!!!

I was shooting the GS's at 23gr for accurate load-- it's proberly right on compressed but not as much...

The 87 gr VMAX also turned up -- might pull the btsp100s an replace with these.

I've shot the larger sambar deer with the 55gr VMAX in .224 , So I do t actually have much doubt they will Smoke Fallow deer in .243 fashion..

All the 6mm GS are sold out, but I've about 20-25 loaded an ready to either prove they are good or maybe they are just too slow!!!

I think realistically I should of got 90gr Speer hot cor and try out those 85 BTSP Speers.

But I also asked a gun nut mate about throwing a 204 reamer up it.

I posted in your other thread about the 6mm-204. You can get die blanks and cut them with your reamer. If it's a stock 204 reamer you'll have to do the body with it and the neck with a 6mm throater. Can't say I've tried that, but should be doable. - dan

Dan i think what id now do IF going to waste any coin, would be to 6mmx223 it. TCU i think they call it-

but after todays groupings with 87gr V max- i dont think ill change a thing LOL

ill invest in 100 new cases i think

So the last two days after work I tested some rounds.
Start loads on the 100gr BTSP and 87gr VMAX were VERY huntable! Just over an Inch. See below



So I worked on the 87gr VMAX more powder and some changes in Seating..

It wasn't worth showing you until I hit the sweet spot - an it will be retested tomorrow!!
The Top target is a Longer coal-same charge.
Bottom is same charge, shorter Coal....winner this far an likely to be the GO. *** 2 shot groups only for this charge as didn't expect the outcome.

Just on an inch ,bees #### under - an likely my stuff up for no Black dot to aim at.

6 TCU is an improved 6x45 (6mm on a 223 case). I used all the TCU's back when I was silhouette shooting. Still have a 7 TCU in Contender handgun. Found it was the best of the lot for knocking rams down at 200 m. - dan

I’m guessing you’re developing a load with what you have on hand, understandable.
I’ve loaded up to 85 grain flat based bullets for deer hunting, an 80 gr flat base crunched into a case full of varget killed one for us last year.
It’s a 200 yard max kind of cartridge imo and you’ll never see the advantage of a boat tail, not enough gas for 100 grains.

yeah mate thats right, ive tried a fair few projies now in 6mm an think youre on the money with 100gr being too much for it- the 85gr btsp is a price/availability thing but it has performed good so far on paper and looking to use it on a critter very soon!
its right on 2750fps from the muzzle and lines up with the BDC of the vixen scope at 200m aswell, which as you say- its a 200m max kind of gun on the Deer.

Got my drops today for 200-300m .
85gr BTSP superb accuracy today.
An 87gr not bad just under an inch.

Aiming for Top target, BTSP touching inside the blue.
Then 200m poi in the bottom circle.
An 300 on the A4. About 14 &16 inch Low respectively.



I've decided these are my best bet for All round- Dog and Deer.. odd cheeky fox.
I chronoed a load a while ago at 2750fps...
