No, maybe not. I just saw the video posted and added it to the conversation. You are criticizing his shooting ability which has nothing to do with quality control of the firearm. I am not trying to praise or put down either the Makasi or Carmel. Everyone should do what they want when it comes to their choice. The more information everyone has, the better.

Meh… depends what his target looks like. I’ve seen some funky stuff on the range but have always maintained that if you can shoot, move, hit what you’re aiming at… carry on. I work with one guy who’s right handed but left eye dominant.
He does the same thing my son does and that’s bring his face down to the stock instead of the stock up to meet his cheek. Grrrrr. Can’t train it out of my son. He’s only 8 tho
The 15 yard range provides a controlled environment to validate the function and operation of the rifle. However, shooting 2.5" groups offhand at 15 yards with premium Hornady Black 75gr BTHP doesn't quite demonstrate the rifle's potential. Perhaps the poor shooting stance indicates a quesitonable pedigree to provide meaningful information on the rifle, but I won't speculate down that rabbithole. I can't speak to his experience shooting or handling OIC-affected black rifles.
He keeps repeating that he had zero malfunctions with his Makasi, but if you dig into the comments, you'll see he did experience a break-in period where the bolt hold open didn't work (which is by definition a malfunction). In his most recent video comparing the Makasi to the Carmel, you can visibly see his handguard alignment is off which he doesn't point out, not to mention any other constructional deficiencies or tolerance issues that we see but weren't identified by him. The absence of easily verifiable information is a disservice to upcoming Makasi owners.
Both of us have an example of one, and poor construction does not necessarily correlate with poor reliability. Considering all of the compounding small issues, I just think it's unacceptable for a $2400 rifle. Does the average Makasi owner want to spend hundreds of dollars more to ensure the rifle runs reliably or to upgrade parts? At that point, you're budgeting for a +$3000 rifle with a dubious track record. No hate for the guy, I'm glad his rifle works well and I hope Brigade steps up their QC and manufacturing processes instead of making empty promises of "top management is looking into it".
Any budget rifle should be able to shoot out 1 hole , or at the very worst cloverleaf groups @ 15 yards with this ammo

I was at a local dealer yesterday, and the salesman was loudly telling everyone within earshot that this was the greatest rifle ever made.
The store has one in stock, fully kitted out, and they’re really trying to push it. It was kind of embarrassing, considering this store used to sell some top-tier, world-class semi-autos—how far they’ve fallen.

I would presume that it is a restricted/grey market import if it was already in stock.

All of our established firearms retailers have "fallen" in recent years as a direct result of the federal government's continual onslaught against Canadian firearms privileges and property rights. Some have definitely fallen farther than others! One need look no further than these utter travesties of modern firearms design:

I am guessing that the majority are purchased by those who are too young and new to firearms to have ever experienced the (relatively) unbridled joy of a Non-Restricted "Black Rifle". Those revolving .410 ga shotguns only exist because other, far more sensible and effective options have all been eliminated by our ideologically-driven Nanny-State government....

It has been more than 6 years. the Covid kids are in university now. There is a full generation of people whose only exposure to semi auto firearms was the dying days of local 180 clones and now a new group of people who only know of SKS.
there is a group of people in their mid 30's they are the last gen who have crossed over all era of bans, they are the most influential people in the coming days because they are still young enough to have the energy to create content and have exposure to the last days of semi and pistols.

Honestly, if Brigade Mfg. delays the shipments to correct the deficiencies with the Makasi's construction and actually test fire the rifles from the factory, Canadians would probably appreciate it much more than receiving a low quality product a few weeks earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if the mass cancellation of Canadian preorders made its way up to the manufacturer who may actually listen to the consumer once it hurts their sales.
In their latest Instagram post addressing the QC issues, it appears they made changes to the handguard to align with the upper receiver. We'll have to see if the rest of the dimensions are in-spec as developing a new aluminum extrustion die with corrected dimensions can be prohibitively expensive to manufacture quickly. It also seems the handguard crossbolts continue to be threaded directly into the handguard which will wear down over time.
