Beautiful! I don't know which impresses me more: the skill and talent and dedication that went into building this lovely rifle, or the balls you display by taking it hunting. 
But both are wonderful!
One question: am I the only guy here who thinks this classical and classic gun just cries out for a nice gloss-finish Leupold or B&L or similar scope?

Nice! ditto - 30-06 for my 'most' but 9.3x62 for Moose, Elk & big Bears ...
... but where do you find a gloss Leupold these days? All the newer ones, with click adjustments, seem to be matte finish.
They're eye wateringly expensive, but the rifle is begging for a Leica Fortis Glossy.
There's a lot of limitations to them, especially reticle, but for a 0-250yd option, they're beautiful.

Except 7rm does "everything" a little better than the 06 with similar recoil. Drawing a line at 165gr bullets in the 06 for "everything up to elk" is also a fallacy. Hardest I've ever seen a moose pile up was from 130gr TTSX from a .270.That's true but there's always something bigger or faster or both. The 300WM will trump the 7mag and the 338WM will trump the 300.
Sometimes enough is enough and the 30-06 is more than enough and is a classic old cartridge perfectly suited to this classic rifle.
A 7x57 would have better but ........
So true! I have a few 30-06 because they work! I also have a few of other things but nothing smaller than the 06. Never been a fan of the magnums even if now I have 2 sitting in the safe, a 300 win mag and a 458 win mag…That's true but there's always something bigger or faster or both. 9 lbs-6 oz. with sling and a full magazine. A bit heavier than I was hoping for, but it's a pretty stout barrel mounted on it- .605" at the muzzle.
I have a 7 RM in the safe, and so far have been unimpressed by the speeds I've been able to get out if it. With a 175 gr, velocity is comparable to a 180 gr/30'06. The 160's did a little better, but still, burning a lot of extra powder for little gain.
I'm going to try Ramshot Grand as soon as I get a minute to load up some rounds, in both 7RM and .30'06. Maybe that will help.
Granted the 7mm bullets are more streamlined and have a higher b.c., but over a distance of 3-400 yds, probably not enough to notice a difference on game.
It's hefty!
I had a similar experience with a bull elk. 270 with a 130gr TSX. 560 yards. Non CNS hit and he went down in a heap.
